{"id":178518,"date":"2025-12-07T01:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T01:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/178518\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T01:39:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T01:39:07","slug":"limerick-woman-arrested-for-own-safety-after-abusing-garda-outside-local-kebab-shop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/178518\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick woman &#8216;arrested for own safety&#8217; after abusing garda outside local kebab shop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A MOTHER-of-five who was arrested \u201cfor her own safety\u201d at a fast food restaurant in west Limerick was fined when she appeared before the local court.<\/p>\n<p>Noelle O\u2019Connor, aged 34, of Grove Crescent, Abbeyfeale, pleaded guilty to a number of public order charges arising from the incident which happened in the early hours of October 3, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Outlining the facts of the case, Inspector Gear\u00f3id Thompson told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/463\/crime-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Newcastle West Court<\/a> that gardai were alerted to a disturbance at around 12.30am and that they subsequently attended the premises.<\/p>\n<p>The incident, he said, took place outside King Kebab on Church Street in Abbeyfeale.<\/p>\n<p>READ ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/crime-and-courts\/1952172\/limerick-woman-engaged-in-harassment-campaign-against-garda-sergeant-following-collision.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick woman engaged in harassment campaign against garda sergeant following collision<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ms O\u2019Connor was \u201cintoxicated\u201d on the night in question and began verbally abusing a member of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na &#8211; namely Garda Enda Moroney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe started verbalising her disquiet,\u201d said Insp Thompson, who added her behaviour towards Garda Moroney was aggressive.<br \/>When the defendant failed to stop, she was arrested and removed from the area for her own safety, the court heard.<\/p>\n<p>She was subsequently charged with public order offences under Section 4 and Section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that Ms O\u2019Connor has a number of previous convictions but none for public order.<\/p>\n<p>On November 4, she was disqualified from driving for three years after she was convicted of drink driving under Section 4 of the Road Traffic Act.<\/p>\n<p>Insp Thompson said that prosecution related to a road traffic collision which happened in October 20204.<\/p>\n<p>Solicitor Michael O\u2019Donnell, representing the accused, told the court that his client had come across Garda Moroney at \u201ca bad time\u201d and that she regrets what happened.<\/p>\n<p>He said she \u201chad a number of drinks taken\u201d and that she \u201chad words with him\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ms O&#8217;Connor, he added, has since apologised for her behaviour on the night.
