Aamir Khan<\/a> is widely regarded today as Bollywood<\/a>\u2019s benchmark for precision and artistic discipline, with several of India\u2019s most successful films\u20143 Idiots, Dangal<\/a>, Ghajini<\/a> and more\u2014forming part of his legacy. Yet, long before he earned this reputation, he carried an unflattering tag: many in the industry dismissed him as a \u201cone-film wonder\u201d after a series of early releases collapsed at the ticket counters.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Aamir reflected on the chaotic phase that followed the phenomenal success of his first major lead role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak<\/a>. Overwhelmed by the sudden flood of opportunities, he accepted nearly eight to nine projects in quick succession. At the time, he believed this number was modest compared to peers who were juggling dozens of films.<\/p>\n

However, once production on these projects commenced, he recognised how poorly this approach aligned with his creative temperament. Managing multiple films simultaneously drained him, and he realised he was not someone who could divide his focus across several sets.
“I realised what a big mistake I had made. I\u2019m not built to do 2-3 films together, 8-9 films together\u2026\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

The actor recalled how deeply unsatisfied he felt during this period. His instincts did not align with the teams he collaborated with, and gradually these movies began reaching theatres\u2014only to falter one after another. Each failure added to his frustration, and the media soon branded him as someone who had peaked with his debut and faded immediately after.<\/p>\n

Aamir shared that this succession of disappointments affected his emotional well-being. He often returned home at the end of the day feeling devastated, overwhelmed by the sense that he was trapped in work that did not resonate with him.
“I was so unhappy I used to come home and cry in the evening. I was very unhappy with the work I was doing…” he admitted. Ultimately, he made a firm promise to himself: he would never again dilute his artistic standards. From that point on, he decided he would proceed with a film only if he had full confidence in the director, deep affection for the story, and trust in the producer\u2019s ability to make and release the project with integrity.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Aamir appeared in the sports-themed drama Sitaare Zameen Par<\/a>, a film positioned as a spiritual continuation of his acclaimed 2007 project Taare Zameen Par. The movie achieved robust commercial results, earning more than \u20b9266 crore at the box office and reaffirming his position as one of Indian cinema\u2019s most reliable storytellers.<\/p>\n
