The person doing the drawing is wearing a black leather jacket. \" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 hLdNfA\"\/>Andrew Sinclair\/BBC<\/p>\n<p>Aisha creates digital art but says AI means &#8220;people can just generate whatever they want&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;I really hate AI,&#8221; says Aisha Belarbi, a 22-year-old Norwich-based &#8220;furry artist&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;It really goes against everything that I do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">She creates furry art \u2014\u00a0animals with human characteristics \u2014\u00a0using traditional and digital methods, like a tablet computer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Generative AI, which uses text prompts to create images, video and music, hadn&#8217;t been a concern because she &#8220;thought it was just rubbish&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Now, as its output improves, things are different.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;I&#8217;m starting to worry because it is getting to a point where I can&#8217;t really decipher what is AI art and what&#8217;s not.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;And a lot of people who aren&#8217;t artists, they really can&#8217;t tell. It shows a tiger's head, with striped fur and piercing blue eyes, sitting on top of a dark suit, white shirt and red tie.\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 hLdNfA\"\/>Aisha Belarbi<\/p>\n<p>Aisha says &#8220;Mister Tig&#8221;, from June 2024, is one of the favourite pieces she has created <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">She has stopped relying on commissions for her main source of income because &#8220;people can just generate whatever they want&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Instead, to try to earn a living she&#8217;s diversified into writing books about how to draw.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;This is my livelihood at stake,\u00a0and a lot of other people&#8217;s livelihoods,&#8221; she adds. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">She fears younger artists may feel &#8220;really discouraged&#8221;, especially those working in digital media. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">For her, art is about &#8220;people&#8217;s life experiences&#8221; and &#8220;the amount of hours and energy it takes to create something great&#8221;, rather than &#8220;something you generate with a prompt&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1764852129_712_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 gUePlo hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/f3803830-d10a-11f0-b053-07c33c2fe816.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Ben Schofield\/BBC A head and shoulders image of JP Allard in a modern-looking office area. Behind him, though out of focus in the picture, are chairs, tables and a book case.\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 hLdNfA\"\/>Ben Schofield\/BBC<\/p>\n<p>JP Allard says his company uses AI to create adverts with authenticity, heart and emotion<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">But JP Allard, 67, believes if Renaissance artist Michaelangelo were alive &#8220;he&#8217;d be dabbling in AI right now&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Mr Allard ran a traditional commercial video agency in Milton Keynes until about a year ago when he was unwell and off work for two weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He says he &#8220;watched every YouTube video I could&#8221;, saw AI&#8217;s potential and decided the company &#8220;had to make the jump&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;It was such a prize to actually get on to this new wave,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">His business MirrorMe now uses AI to create &#8220;digital twins&#8221; \u2014 video likenesses \u2014\u00a0for clients that can represent their business in &#8220;175 languages&#8221;, as well as adverts that are entirely AI-generated.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1764852129_712_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 gUePlo hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/774aa2d0-d134-11f0-a0cc-673bf7abfc30.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"MirrorMe AI An AI-generated image that shows a man standing inside a handbag shop, wearing a long-sleeved checked shirt. They each have their own shelf and are individually lit.\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 hLdNfA\"\/>MirrorMe AI<\/p>\n<p>The AI-generated presenter in one of MirrorMe&#8217;s commercials<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Mr Allard recalls having &#8220;staffing issues&#8221; with &#8220;a couple&#8221; of his team who resisted the changes and no longer work for him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;The problem is the velocity of change,&#8221; he adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;In the past, we had five or six years to take typewriters out and replace them with word processors and PCs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;Now it&#8217;s happening in months.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He says not enough retraining is happening, which is something &#8220;the politicians have to think about&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">MirrorMe&#8217;s product, he says, replaces &#8220;every form of corporate media, without a lot of the production overheads, the filming, the post production&#8221; and is much cheaper and faster than traditional videography.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He insists &#8220;it&#8217;s authentic, it&#8217;s got heart, it&#8217;s got emotion&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;There are always going to be Luddites, cynics, and there are plenty of examples of bad AI, but it&#8217;s just a tool, and in the right artistic hands I think it can be convincing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1764852129_712_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 gUePlo hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/90ff80e0-d109-11f0-94d1-d3f2863fcac1.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Andrew Sinclair\/BBC Ross Stewart sitting down, holding a guitar, in front of a set of full bookshelves. Only the top of the guitar is visible, his right arm is over the top of the instrument.\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 hLdNfA\"\/>Andrew Sinclair\/BBC<\/p>\n<p>Using AI to write lyrics is &#8220;sacrilege&#8221; according to musician Ross Stewart<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Norwich musician Ross Stewart, 21, saw his fears over AI realised when his mum sent him an album to listen to.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;We love music in my family and so we share a lot of music,&#8221; he recalls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;She sent me an album and she said &#8216;how have I never heard this before? It&#8217;s fantastic&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Ross says it turned out to be &#8220;an AI album&#8221; of blues music and was &#8220;one of about 30 albums that have been released just this year by that one artist&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Among the concerns for him is the &#8220;speed it&#8217;s just being pumped out because you can make a song in a minute&#8221;, which is &#8220;posing a danger \u2014\u00a0it&#8217;s affecting songwriters, producers, musicians&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">AI could be used to write lyrics, which he believes is &#8220;sacrilege&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;I will struggle but I will write the song myself,&#8221; he adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He says he is aware of advertisers using AI-generated music instead of licensing a track from a musician.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">That is &#8220;removing the exposure and the revenue for potential artists who are trying to grow&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He believes AI&#8217;s output is getting better and could &#8220;start costing people jobs; it&#8217;s going to start costing people&#8217;s livelihood&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">But Stewart, who has just come off his first UK tour, adds that &#8220;people crave authenticity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;People want to go to shows and they want to see real people pick up guitars.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1764852129_712_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-5340b511-0 gUePlo hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/134bfab0-d10a-11f0-94d1-d3f2863fcac1.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Ben Schofield\/BBC Niki Tibble, seated in a homely kitchen area, smiling at the camera.
