Ian Wright has hit out at an Arsenal star after Mikel Arteta\u2019s side suffered a rare 2-1 loss against Premier League rivals Aston Villa on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Aston Villa ended Arsenal\u2019<\/a>s 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions on Saturday, handing Arteta\u2019s team their first loss since the end of August.<\/p>\n Emi Buendia scored deep into stoppage time to clinch all three points for Aston Villa, who have closed in on the Premier League leaders<\/a>. Manchester City, meanwhile, are only two points adrift of Arsenal.<\/p>\n Therefore, the Gunners will be keen to bounce back when they host bottom-placed Wolves next weekend as they are suddenly under more pressure.<\/p>\n Wright has explained why he thinks Arsenal\u2019s late loss against Aston Villa could have easily been avoided.<\/p>\n \u201cI think you\u2019ve got to look at the substitutions he [Emery] made, Malen coming on, offensive, Buendia coming on, offensive, I think that should have been the signal to Arsenal to say, \u2018right, \u2018let\u2019s shut up shop now because they\u2019re going for it\u2019,\u201d Wright said on Premier League Productions.<\/p>\n READ:\u00a0Arsenal dealt hammer blow by Aston Villa as Timber, Calafiori most feeble in title clash<\/a><\/p>\n When asked if he thought Arsenal\u2019s game management was not right, Wright replied: \u201cNo, it was not.<\/p>\n \u201cI think once you get past 85 minutes I think Arsenal going there, let\u2019s face it, Villa with the chances they had could have won the game, you then say, \u2018let\u2019s take what we\u2019ve got now and get back to London\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n Wright then agreed with Martin O\u2019Neil after the Celtic boss criticised Noni Madueke for deciding to shoot late on instead of running down the clock.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI have to agree with Martin, naturally, as a forward if we\u2019re getting into that stage of the game where they\u2019re putting pressure on, they\u2019ve put two forwards on, then you naturally know, \u2018I\u2019m going to start running it into the corner now\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause a point at Villa at this stage is good.
