Obviously, those things didn\u2019t pan out, given certain things that happened.\u201d<\/p>\nUlrich is referring to the controversial firing of Melissa Barrera by Spyglass in the wake of Scream 6, which led to Scream 7 being retooled without Sam or her sister, Jenna Ortega\u2019s Tara.<\/p>\n
Scream 7 will instead put the focus back on Sidney Prescott and the original legacy characters, so it\u2019s unlikely that we\u2019ll ever get the continuation of Sam Carpenter\u2019s story. The final moments of Scream 6 see Sam holding the Ghostface mask in her hands and ultimately tossing it to the ground, though there\u2019s a faint suggestion that she may be unable to leave that legacy behind.<\/p>\n
The original version of Scream 7, according to Ulrich\u2019s new comments, would\u2019ve seen Billy continue to tempt Sam over to the dark side. It\u2019s unclear if Ulrich is saying that she eventually gives in or he\u2019s only suggesting that Billy would\u2019ve continued trying to get her to complete that villainous arc, though it\u2019s a legacy she very much rejects in both Scream 5 and Scream 6.<\/p>\n
As for Scream 7, Ulrich doubles down on his comments last week about his involvement in the current version of the movie. He definitively tells EW that he\u2019s not coming back in next year\u2019s Kevin Williamson-directed movie, and that he \u201cknows nothing\u201d of what happens in it.<\/p>\n
