{"id":183636,"date":"2025-12-09T21:46:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T21:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/183636\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T21:46:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T21:46:07","slug":"revenue-quarterly-list-of-tax-defaulters-includes-e10-5m-in-settlements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/183636\/","title":{"rendered":"Revenue quarterly list of tax defaulters includes \u20ac10.5m in settlements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A machinery sales and repair provider who faced a tax bill of \u20ac1.7m topped Revenue&#8217;s quarterly list of tax defaulters.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue published its List of Tax Defaulters for the period July 1 to September 30.\u00a0 The list included 30 settlements worth a combined \u20ac10.5m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The 30 cases included two cases over \u20ac1m.\u00a0 Francis Cullen, a machinery sales and repair provider from Old Dublin Road, Enniscorthy, faced a tax bill for non-declaration of income tax, PAYE\/PRSI\/universal service charge and vat made up of \u20ac859,198 (including a \u20ac31,569 surcharge), interest of \u20ac204,169, and penalties of \u20ac710,729 for a total \u20ac1,774,096.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A Co Westmeath woman faced a bill of over \u20ac1m for non-declaration of income tax and vat. Marina Jane Loddick from Mount Temple, Moate, faced a tax bill of \u20ac482,946 (including \u20ac22,800 surcharge) with a further \u20ac245,270 in interest and \u20ac300,368 in penalties for a total \u20ac1,028,584. The settlement was paid in full.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Three cases exceeded \u20ac501,000 but were under \u20ac1m. Keith McFadden from Turlough, Castlebar, a motor dealer trading as Sava Motors faced a tax bill for underdeclaration of income tax of \u20ac460,245 (including \u20ac7,909 surcharge) with a further \u20ac251,322 in interest and \u20ac180,934 in penalties for a total bill of \u20ac892,501.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Helen Moore, a company director from Island Road, Fenit, Tralee, faced a tax bill of \u20ac396,168 for underdeclaration of income tax with a further \u20ac168,352 in interest and \u20ac118,849 in penalties for a total bill of \u20ac683,369.\u00a0 The settlement was paid in full.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Michael Moorehouse of Church Hill, Fermoy, a tyre sales agent trading as Mike&#8217;s Tyre Centre, faced a tax bill of \u20ac307,299 for underdeclaration of income tax and vat, with a further \u20ac106,189 in interest and \u20ac230,474 in penalties for a total bill of \u20ac643,962. The settlement was paid in full.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">There were 20 cases between \u20ac101,000 and \u20ac500,000 while a further five settlement cases were less than \u20ac100,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Separately, 39 cases were published after a court-imposed penalty, with\u00a0\u20ac70,247.50 in court fines imposed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">One man, Dragos Alin Ocanu, a construction worker with an address in Alicante Spain, was imprisoned for three months for tobacco smuggling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">There were 15 cases of excise offences for tobacco smuggling, illegal selling of tobacco, and possession of untaxed tobacco for sale with court fines totalling \u20ac34,500 imposed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Three people were each fined \u20ac2,500 for illegal selling of tobacco: Shane Holland, of Willow Bank, Upper Fairhill, Cork; Marius Schipor of North Brunswick Street, Dublin, and Alexandriu Mihai Codau of Navan, Co Meath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">There were 14 cases of misuse of marked mineral oil &#8211; better known as green diesel &#8211; in respect of which court fines totalling \u20ac30,500 were imposed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">There were four fines for failure to hold a liquor licence.
