Tired of driving a car, truck or SUV that looks just like half the vehicles in town? Ford is making it easy to customize vehicles that you already own, or vehicles you\u2019re planning to buy new, with its one-stop Ford Custom Garage website, which debuted last year at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

We were reminded of the Custom Garage after a new configuration, the FP800S Bronze Magneride Package, appeared on the site last week as a \u201cProject Vehicle.\u201d The headlining bit of said project, despite having Magneride in the name, is the 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger bolted onto a Mustang GT\u2019s 5.0-liter V-8. <\/p>\n

The rest of the bits and pieces for this ambitious build include an air\/oil separator kit, a half-shaft upgrade kit, a street lowering kit, bronze R1 wheels, a bronze lug nut kit, FP800S bronze graphics, a unique modular grille with bronze inserts, a Ford Performance grille badge, an Air Design gloss black trunk applique, a Ford Performance rear badge, an FP800S interior badge, an FPP ProCal tool, wheel spats, a Ford Performance Extreme cat-back exhaust, a carbon fiber Dark Horse spoiler, a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber mirror skull caps, Recaro seats with Ford Performance logos, a carbon fiber hood vent, and, of course, the FP800S keychain.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no word yet on when or whether the FP800S will be available\u2014the original Mustang bearing that name was a SEMA build that never made it to production. The Ford Custom Garage will happily sell you other packages right now, however. Log onto the site here<\/a>, and you can call up fully realized packages that can either be added at the factory or by a dealer to an existing vehicle, and the Ford Performance Parts additions will be covered by a factory warranty.<\/p>\n

These entail bits and bobs for the Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport, and F-150. Some of the packages, like the Blue Free Wheeling model for the Bronco Sport, are primarily cosmetic. It adds Velocity Blue grille letters, 17\u201d x 7\u201d high-gloss black wheels with blue accents, Velocity Blue liftgate letters, interior vent accent overlays, a Blue Free Wheeling body graphic kit, an interior accent overlay kit, front door sill accent overlays, and Coverking Neosupreme front seat covers.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re interested in both enhanced looks and power, there\u2019s the FP700S Black Edition for the Ford F-150. You start with a (black, obviously) F-150, either rear-drive or four-wheel-drive, equipped with the 5.0-liter V-8, which is offered with a standard 400 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Central to the FP700S is a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, a 50-state-legal modification that can provide a total output of 700 horsepower and 590 lb.-ft. of torque.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what the rest of the FP700S package provides: A black 22\u201d x 9.5\u201d wheel kit (Ford doesn\u2019t include tires as part of the package, but suggests you opt for a set of Michelin Primacy LTX 275\/50R22s), a black lug nut kit, a Ford Performance fender vent kit, an Air Design front lip splitter, an FP700S lowering kit, black matte bodyside FP700S decals, a Ford Performance rear badge, black F-150 tailgate lettering, a FP700S hood decal, and last, and probably least, an FP700S keychain.<\/p>\n

The Ford Performance Garage has been around for at least a decade or so, turning up at big shows like the Carlisle Ford Nationals, prepared to install performance parts on customer vehicles. But with these full-vehicle packages, you can order one by using a single part number at Ford Custom Garage, and be assured that a factory warranty will cover the installation. Prices appear to start around $5000 for modest, mostly appearance packages, then climb according to sophistication.<\/p>\n
