Jeremy Clarkson has said he is \u201cgenuinely frightened\u201d ahead of a major change to his working life, confessing it will be the first time in four decades that he won\u2019t be filming a TV show.<\/p>\n

The presenter made the admission while promoting his newest ITV project, Millionaire Hot Seat, which launches in January 2026.<\/p>\n

The quiz show marks a huge new step for Mr Clarkson, who has fronted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? since its revival in 2018 and has been a fixture on British television since the 1980s.<\/p>\n

But despite the excitement surrounding the franchise\u2019s spin-off, The former Top Gear presenter says a temporary break from his intense filming schedule has him nervous.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m genuinely frightened because until March, I won\u2019t be filming a TV show for the first time in forty years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat will be three months of sh**. You would rot if you didn\u2019t [work].\u201d<\/p>\n

The 65-year-old, who also fronts Amazon\u2019s Clarkson\u2019s Farm and previously led The Grand Tour, said the idea of stepping back feels unsettling.<\/p>\n

But Mr Clarkson insisted he is still passionate about working, saying: \u201cI don\u2019t really need to do it\u2026 but I watched the Australian version and thought, \u2018Yes, this can work.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Millionaire Hot Seat promises a new twist on the familiar Millionaire format.<\/p>\n

Six contestants compete in a rotating queue, with only the person in the \u201chot seat\u201d able to answer questions.<\/p>\n

Correct answers climb the money ladder; a wrong answer eliminates the player and reduces the total jackpot.<\/p>\n

Contestants can pass, but they must go to the back of the queue, risking someone else scooping the prize they helped build.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very expensive game of musical chairs!\u201d Mr Clarkson explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can be the most brilliant player and go home with nothing, or you can be useless \u2013 and this happened the other day \u2013 and go home with the prize.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlike traditional quiz shows, Millionaire Hot Seat rewards tactical thinking.<\/p>\n

Players must decide whether to help fellow contestants or sabotage them by risking wrong answers.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can be incredibly selfish or very generous,\u201d Mr Clarkson said. \u201cI love watching how human nature works and if they land their fellow contestants in the soup or not!\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his decades on television, Mr Clarkson admitted he wasn\u2019t nearly as relaxed as people might assume when filming started.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery [nervous]!\u201d he revealed. \u201cI put my heart and soul into it, but I was still nervous. There is so much to remember. You really do have to be on your toes.\u201d<\/p>\n

He says viewers should expect real pressure, stating: \u201cWhen the clock is ticking and they have five seconds left \u2014 honestly it\u2019s the definition of pressure. Their eyes almost bulge out of their heads.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the top prize still set at \u00a31million, the show can produce life-changing wins in half an hour.<\/p>\n

One recent contestant won \u00a3100,000, leading competing players to celebrate despite leaving with nothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey both were entitled to feel aggrieved, but they didn\u2019t,\u201d Clarkson said. \u201cThey were glad she won.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Clarkson, who recently revealed he has lost three stone, said he feels healthier than ever. \u201cI walk further, I have more energy and now I\u2019ve got my stents in, I\u2019m energised,” he said.<\/p>\n

He also joked about being \u201cmobbed\u201d unexpectedly by women in Chelsea Harbour: \u201cI\u2019ve never particularly had women fans before \u2014 now I have,” Mr Clarkson added.<\/p>\n

With no bucket list left to tick off and no fear of cancellation, Mr Clarkson says he simply wants to keep working and stay excited.<\/p>\n
