{"id":187296,"date":"2025-12-12T04:36:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T04:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/187296\/"},"modified":"2025-12-12T04:36:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T04:36:10","slug":"dublins-luas-green-line-operating-normally-after-two-days-of-disruption-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/187296\/","title":{"rendered":"Dublin\u2019s Luas Green Line \u2018operating normally\u2019 after two days of disruption \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/luas\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/luas\/\" target=\"_blank\">Luas<\/a> Green Line in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dublin<\/a> is \u201coperating normally\u201d after a gradual resumption of services from 6pm, the operator has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement, Luas operator Transdev said trams on the full line were due to run every 15 minutes until services end at 00.30am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Transdev apologised to all customers and the travelling public for the impact of the two days of service disruption.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It said maintenance teams and engineers have worked \u201caround the clock\u201d to address the issue within the \u201ccritical low-voltage safety system known as the 48-volt system\u201d, which caused the Green Line power failure. These teams will remain on site as services return to normal, Transdev said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Transdev said the 48-volt system is not connected to the overhead lines that power the trams. Rather, it is part of the safety network that links substations to the central control room and allows power to be safely controlled and monitored across the line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">This safety system is designed to shut down power to the overhead lines in the event of an emergency, it said.
