After the Flood, the “riveting” crime thriller from ITV, has shared first-look images for its upcoming second season. With Sophie Rundle and Philip Glenister set to reprise their roles, this could be a big hit when it returns next year. <\/p>\n

The series<\/a>, created by Mick Ford, sees Rundle portray Joanna “Jo” Marshall, a police constable who investigates the death of an unidentified man after his body is unearthed following a flood. <\/p>\n

Boasting a stacked cast of British talent including Lorraine Ashbourne and Faye McKeever, the crime thriller was renewed for a second season by ITV<\/a> in November 2024, and we now finally have our first photos. <\/p>\n

According to the synopsis, the second season finds Jo, newly promoted to detective, on the trail of a “baffling” new murder investigation. With tensions “simmering” in Waterside, due to looming environmental threats, another body is discovered in “bizarre circumstances”. <\/p>\n

“Jo’s race to stop the killer brings her into direct conflict with powerful and influential forces within the town, ultimately drawing her into an investigation that becomes deeply personal,” continues the logline. <\/p>\n

“One [investigation] that will require her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has blighted the town’s police force – and her own family – for decades.”<\/p>\n

In addition to the aforementioned stars, other returning cast members include Nicholas Gleaves, Matt Stokoe, George Bukhari, Tripti Tripuraneni, Leo Flanagan and Jacqueline Boatswain. <\/p>\n

There’s also a host of new stars<\/a>, with Alun Armstrong, Jill Halfpenny, Matthew McNulty, Ian Puleston-Davies, Anil Desai, Steph De Whalley, Nathalie Armin, Tony Marshall and Roger Morlidge being just a few of the newcomers. <\/p>\n

The second season, which is billed as an “intense drama”, will consist of six hour-long instalments, with Azhur Saleem returning to direct the first three parts. Tom McKay, known for Ten Pound Poms, will helm the remaining three episodes. <\/p>\n

Originally released in January 2024, the first season of After the Flood<\/a> received generally positive reviews from critics, with The Guardian<\/a> calling it a “an unexpectedly riveting disaster drama” that morphs into an “ace murder mystery”.<\/p>\n

After the Flood season 2 will air on ITV1 and ITVX in 2026.<\/p>\n
