\n\tLili Reinhart<\/a> has revealed she\u2019s been diagnosed with endometriosis. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Riverdale<\/a> actress opened up about her path to receiving the diagnosis on Instagram<\/a>, where she revealed she learned the news \u201cfollowing laparoscopic surgery.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLast year, I saw a urogynecologist and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I was told there was no cure \u2014 and no lasting relief \u2014 for my symptoms,\u201d Reinhart wrote. \u201cThree hospital visits. Multiple urologists and gynecologists. And not one of them seriously considered endometriosis as the underlying cause of what I was experiencing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter working with \u201ctwo different pelvic floor therapists\u201d and \u201cpush[ing] for an MRI on my own,\u201d she was initially diagnosed with adenomyosis. Reinhart explained she then met with \u201can endometriosis specialist who helped me decide that laparoscopic surgery was the next step,\u201d despite a separate gynecologist telling her she \u201cprobably didn\u2019t have endo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReinhart concluded, \u201cI\u2019m glad I trusted my body and listened to my gut and will continue advocating for others to do so.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tMayo Clinic defines<\/a> endometriosis as \u201can often-painful condition in which tissue that is similar to the inner lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.\u201d The Clinic also notes that \u201cendometriosis can cause pain, especially during menstrual periods\u201d and \u201cfertility problems also may develop,\u201d while treatment can aid the condition. <\/p>\n

\n\tReinhart recently appeared in Uta Briesewitz\u2019s drama American Sweatshop and Cooper Raiff\u2019s comedy Hal & Harper. Moving forward in her career after starring in Riverdale for seven seasons, the actress told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> she\u2019s been \u201cbeen very intentionally picky and selective about\u201d what projects she wants to take on.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m pivoting what I\u2019m doing with my career. I\u2019m moving away from network television and into indie movies and that\u2019s kind of a big pivot and it takes time,\u201d she explained. \u201cI\u2019ve been patient and I\u2019m thanking my fans who have also been patient and sometimes wondering, where are you? It\u2019s like, I want to make sure that I\u2019m doing this until I\u2019m 80 years old, and so each project has to have something special about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReinhart will next star in the film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood\u2019s The Love Hypothesis<\/a>; Meredith Alloway\u2019s horror-comedy Forbidden Fruits; and Brian Swibel\u2019s feature directorial debut, The Very Best People. <\/p>\n
