title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A call has gone out\u00a0to\u00a0schools\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundalkdemocrat.ie\/section\/112\/sport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dundalkdemocrat.ie\/section\/112\/sport\">Dundalk<\/a>, and elsewhere across the country, from well-known Irish Olympian, sprinter David Gillick, who has\u00a0teamed up with Fyffes once again in a quest\u00a0to\u00a0find \u2018Ireland\u2019s Fittest School 2026\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Aimed at promoting the importance of exercise, fitness and healthy eating amongst young people, a central feature of the programme will be a series of exercise routines \u2013 recorded by Gillick, alongside Irish fitness trainer, Sharon Flanagan \u2013 which competing schools can adopt as part of their PE curriculum and against which performance will be measured and tracked online.<\/p>\n<p>READ NEXT:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundalkdemocrat.ie\/news\/1965945\/ardee-community-school-win-lennon-cup.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dundalkdemocrat.ie\/news\/1965945\/ardee-community-school-win-lennon-cup.html\">Ardee Community School win Lennon Cup<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Building on the success of the previous four years \u2013 and running for eight weeks from January 26th\u00a0\u2013 the 2026 competition will then see the top four schools from each province compete head-to-head across four live regional qualifier events in April.<\/p>\n<p>The top school from Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster will then progress to May\u2019s grand final, hosted by patrons Gillick and Flanagan, at which the prize package will include \u20ac8,000 worth of sports equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch, Fyffes&#8217;
