Returning adventure series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has debuted to a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. The Disney+<\/a> show premiered the first two episodes of its second season earlier this week, and it appears to already be a huge critical hit.<\/p>\n

Based on the Rick Riordan novel series, the story follows demigod Percy (Walker Scobell) as he balances his divine status with an ordinary life, with the second run adapting 2006 book The Sea of Monsters.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, season 2 sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> based on 22 reviews, Variety<\/a> calling it “just as compelling” as the first set of episodes.<\/p>\n

“In a darker season 2, which boasts much higher stakes for the trio, Rick Riordan\u2019s expansive world is only getting juicier and more robust,” the review added.<\/p>\n

Lady Geeks Media<\/a> suggested it “shines on all fronts, delivering the type of sophomore season that proves the show is on its way toward becoming one of the most skillfully crafted fantasies of the decade”.<\/p>\n

IGN<\/a> further called season 2 “a shining light”, noting that “there aren’t enough stories anymore about growing up, finding your inner hero, being part of a community and a team and caring for each other”.<\/p>\n

“Everything about the first two episodes of Season 2 is satisfyingly twisty and emotional, pulsing with urgency and heart,” added Riotus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year ahead of the second season, it was confirmed that Percy Jackson had already been renewed for a third run<\/a>, which will adapt third book The Titan’s Curse.<\/p>\n
