Two men linked to an organised crime gang in Limerick<\/a> have been denied bail following strong garda opposition to their release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As part of evidence to deny 26 year-old Anthony Curtin bail, a viral video was played in Limerick District Court showing a masked figure firing shots from a car on Hyde Road.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Detective Michael Dunphy gave evidence that both Anthony Curtin of 1 Railway House, Spitland, Limerick, and his 21-year-old brother Seamus Curtin – who has an address at 19 Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurragh Weston, Limerick – are \u201cinvolved in a feud between the Colins\u2019 family and the O\u2019Donoghue organised crime group\u201d.<\/p>\n

The men – who the detective believe to be members of the O\u2019Donoghue gang – have been charged with the unauthorised taking of a vehicle under section 112 of the road traffic act. Seamus Curtin is also charged with arson.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The detective described how three separate houses on the Hyde Road were shot at from a black Audi while the occupants were at home on May 8, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The men – who are brothers – are alleged to have stolen a Lexus and a black Audi from Dublin with an associate. The court said that the cars drove to Limerick in a convoy, and that some of their journey was tracked on CCTV.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The detective described how three separate houses on the Hyde Road were shot at from a black Audi while the occupants were at home on May 8, 2025. After the crime, Garda\u00ed found the Audi burnt out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The detective said that armed garda\u00ed are permanently stationed on Hyde Road, there is a garda presence at school drop-offs, and one house has been demolished as a result of ongoing gang crime.<\/p>\n

Detective Michael Dunphy said that both men have more charges coming down the pipeline and that \u201cthe charges we will be seeking is organised crime gang involvement\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Solicitor Sarah Ryan represented both men. When the detective mentioned the men’s associates, she said: \u201cThey\u2019re people he\u2019s grown up with since they\u2019re a child\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Detective Dunphy responded that from the garda\u00ed\u2019s perspective \u201cWe\u2019d see this as part of an organised crime group\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The detective appealed to Judge Patricia Harney that Anthony Curtin is an \u201cactive member of the feud\u201d and that his release could endanger the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Judge Patricia Harney denied both men bail, reasoning that while \u201cThe accused comes before us as an innocent man\u201d, \u201che needs to come back to court\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both men are to remain in custody until December 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n
