Shane Lowry was hailed a ‘gentleman’ after producing a ‘great moment’ on Friday night’s Late Late Show on RTE.<\/p>\n

One week on from Toy Show, the golf star<\/a> sat down with Patrick Kielty<\/a> to reflect on his Ryder Cup heroics, the abuse himself and Rory McIlroy<\/a> faced at the tournament and the importance of family.<\/p>\n

During the Toy Show<\/a>, Lowry appeared via video link to surprise young golf fan Declan Ryan and invited him to next year’s Irish Open. He also gave him a signed Ryder Cup<\/a> flag. In a heartwarming moment on Friday’s show, the world number 27 was joined by Declan in the studio to play a game of ‘pitch and potty’.<\/p>\n

Host Patrick Kielty teamed up with singer Tom Grennan, with Lowry partnering Declan. “Shane needs somebody to play with, there’s only one man really,” said Patrick, as Shane asked: “Is it Declan?”<\/p>\n

The Cork<\/a> youngster was met with huge applause as he walked into the studio and was delighted to meet Lowry – who looked equally as happy to see him.<\/p>\n

Declan asked the Ryder Cup hero: “Thank you for the signed flag and to be the world’s greatest golfer and beat Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors, what advice would you give me?”<\/p>\n

Lowry brilliantly replied: “A couple of things; practice hard, never stop enjoying it and follow your dreams.”<\/p>\n

Many viewers took to social media to hail the 2019 Open champion. One said: “What a beautiful person Shane Lowry. A credit to his sport & Ireland.”<\/p>\n

Another commented: “What a gentleman Shane Lowry is and Declan is wonderful, a real smiler.”<\/p>\n

Someone else wrote: “What a great moment for that little boy ..those are the memories that he will carry forever ..Good man Shane.”<\/p>\n

“Shane Lowry has to be one of Ireland’s most likeable sports stars. Top man,” added another.<\/p>\n

“No fan of golf by any means but Shane Lowry is a thoroughly likable guy,” read one other comment.<\/p>\n
