The 2 Johnnies made a shock baby announcement at their sold-out 3 Arena gig on Saturday night in Dublin.<\/p>\n

Roscrea’s Johnny “Smacks” McMahon of The 2 Johnnies paid tribute to his “absolutely heroic” wife Annie as he revealed their first child was born several weeks ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McMahon shared the news on stage at the 3Arena on Saturday night alongside his podcast partner and best friend, Johnny B O’Brien from Cahir.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Johnny Smacks had previously told podcast listeners that he and his wife were expecting a baby and they updated fans in Dublin on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Smacks’ first child has been in the care of Children\u2019s Health Ireland (CHI) in Crumlin since his birth, as he was diagnosed with gastroschisis \u2013 a birth defect where a hole forms in the abdominal wall, causing the intestines to protrude outside the body.<\/p>\n

Fans have been reacting saying: “Congrats to Smacks and Annie on little baby JJ and to Johnny B about to become a godfather.”<\/p>\n

Johnny Smacks revealed how he and his wife, Annie, were told early in the pregnancy that JJ would be affected by gastroschisis, a condition that leaves organs \u00adoutside of the body.<\/p>\n

Smacks, 34, said: “I’m delighted to share some incredibly special news.<\/p>\n

“A few weeks ago, Annie and I welcomed our little boy, JJ, into the world, and I’m officially a dad.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a whirlwind, but the best kind. From early in the \u00adpregnancy, we knew there would be complications, and when JJ was born he was diagnosed with gastroschisis.<\/p>\n

“He needed a couple of ops straight away, and he will be in hospital for a while yet, but he\u2019s already shown unbelievable fight. I’m happy to say he\u2019s doing well, getting stronger every day.”<\/p>\n

Gastroschisis, which affects about one in every 5,000 babies, is a condition where the intestines protrude through a hole in the abdominal wall, near the belly button, because the tummy \u00admuscles didn\u2019t fully form.<\/p>\n

He will discuss the diagnosis in full on Monday with co-star Johnny “B” O’Brien on a special two-hour episode of their The 2 \u00adJohnnies \u00adPodcast on Spotify.<\/p>\n
