That is likely to lift the carrying value of Google\u2019s long-standing investment in Elon Musk\u2019s rocket and satellite company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alphabet, Google\u2019s parent, has been an investor in SpaceX since at least 2015, when it joined <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/fidelity-investments\/\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/fidelity-investments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fidelity Investments<\/a> in a $1 billion funding round for a combined stake of about 10% at the time, Bloomberg has\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2015-01-20\/musk-s-spacex-sells-10-stake-to-google-fidelity-for-1-billion\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2015-01-20\/musk-s-spacex-sells-10-stake-to-google-fidelity-for-1-billion\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A representative for Google declined to comment, citing their policy of not disclosing or commenting on individual private holdings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A similar revaluation boosted Alphabet\u2019s earnings earlier this year. In April, the company disclosed an $8 billion unrealized gain tied to its investment in a private company \u2014 widely understood to be SpaceX \u2014 after a tender offer late last year valued the company at about $350 billion.
