Fans of Grammy-nominated musician Roderick \u201cRory\u201d Macleod have been sending prayers to his family and former band after the disturbing details of his death have emerged.<\/p>\n
According to reports, Macleod, who is best known for his time with the group Roomful of Blues, was hit and killed on Dec. 6 in Rhode Island while walking his dog.<\/p>\n
He was 70.<\/p>\n
People Magazine<\/a> reported that Shannon Godbout, 41, was arrested by the Hopkinton Police Department following the incident. In a release shared to Facebook<\/a>, police said Hopkinton \u201cleft her lane and struck several objects, including two telephone poles.\u201d<\/p>\n Police said that Macleod was walking his dogs in the eastbound lane when he was hit. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he died.<\/p>\n Police said that Godbout was in possession of \u201cnumerous illegal narcotics and packaging materials associated with drug distribution.\u201d<\/p>\n The Rhode Island State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.<\/p>\n Godbout is facing charges for driving as to endanger, resulting in death, and possession of narcotics, Schedule I\/II with intent to distribute, third plus offense.<\/p>\n Police said that Godbout\u2019s criminal history includes \u201c100 arrests, with 8 of them from the Hopkinton Police Department.\u201d The department said that 82 warrants have previously been issued for Godbout, and that she has had 40 traffic citations.<\/p>\n Roomful of Blues posted about Macleod\u2019s death on Facebook.<\/p>\n \u201cWe would like to acknowledge his diverse musical contributions as well as being a wonderful and gentle soul,\u201d the statement read.<\/a> \u201cThere are no words for such an immense loss. RIP dear friend.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans were quick to respond with love.<\/p>\n \u201cA tragic loss, and something that shouldn\u2019t have happened,\u201d Debbie Sptiznagel commented on the post. \u201cMy condolences to sandol, his family and many friends.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy heart breaks for the Macleod family, who must be devastated,\u201d Sharon Kenler Kinnane replied. \u201cHe was a gentle soul and talented musician who will be missed by many. Sending hugs and prayers to all who mourn him.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cVery sad news,\u201d Mary Pilkington O\u2019Connell wrote. \u201cDeepest condolences to all that knew and loved Rory.
