Landman Season 2 Episode 5, \u201cThe Pirate Dinner,\u201d made a rare real-life reference, talking about ABC\u2019s The View (via\u00a0Variety<\/a>). This exchange occurs when T.L. (Sam Elliott) calls Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) when he is locked out of the house. He first asks Tommy what he\u2019s doing, and says that he doesn\u2019t know how to pass the time, and needs suggestions.<\/p>\n

Tommy replies, \u201cWell, s**t, do whatever you want to. Read a book, watch TV. Watch one of them daytime talk shows. You know, like The View or something.\u201d T.L. then asks, \u201cWhat\u2019s The View?\u201d<\/p>\n

Tommy describes the show, saying, \u201cBunch of pissed off millionaires b****ing about how much they hate millionaires and Trump and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their a** about. It\u2019s pretty funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t sound funny,\u201d T.L. responds, seemingly unimpressed. Tommy replies, \u201cWell, it ain\u2019t joke funny. It\u2019s like \u2018fart in church\u2019 funny, you know what I mean?\u201d T.L. quips, \u201cDoesn\u2019t sound funny either.\u201d Tommy adds, \u201cWell, it depends on your proximity of your fart.\u201d Their conversation ends with Tommy leading his father to a spare key to their house.<\/p>\n

Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is a neo-Western drama series that takes place in West Texas. It is inspired by Wallace\u2019s own podcast, Boomtown, which talks about the activities surrounding oil companies, predominantly in Texas.<\/p>\n

It features Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, and Mark Collie, among others. Veteran actor Sam Elliott is the latest addition to the season as T.L., Tommy\u2019s father.<\/p>\n
