\n\tJimmy Kimmel<\/a> took aim at Donald Trump<\/a> for criticizing Rob Reiner<\/a> following the filmmaker\u2019s death<\/a> this week. Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their home on Sunday. Shortly after, their son Nick Reiner was arrested<\/a> for allegedly killing his parents. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is the kind of weekend that makes you wonder if things will ever feel good again,\u201d Kimmel noted as he opened his monologue on Monday night. The host referenced the mass shooting<\/a> at Australia\u2019s Bondi Beach, the school shooting<\/a> at Brown University, and the \u201cmurder of one of our greatest directors and patriots, Rob Reiner, and his wife Michele Reiner.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat we need in a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental health care, is compassion and leadership,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cWe did not get that from our president because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel shared Trump\u2019s unhinged Truth Social post<\/a> about the Reiner family, in which the president wrote that the couple had \u201cpassed away,\u201d due to \u201cthe anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJust when you think he can\u2019t go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that,\u201d Kimmel responded. \u201cHis description of what happened of course is not at all what happened. And this is exactly what I\u2019ve spoken about before. This rush to pin the tail on the donkey in pursuit of the Trump-friendly narrative. Not to mention blaming his death on the fact that he is an outspoken liberal, insulting someone who has just been murdered, who leaves children behind, without having any idea of what actually happened. It\u2019s so hateful and vile.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel added that when he first saw Trump\u2019s post he thought it was fake. \u201cEven for him that seemed like too much,\u201d he said. \u201cBut nothing is ever too much for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump doubled down on his comments later in the day yesterday, again calling Reiner \u201cderanged\u201d to reporters at the White House. \u201cI thought he was very bad for our country,\u201d Trump said. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat corroded brain is in charge of our lives,\u201d Kimmel noted after showing a clip of Trump speaking about Reiner. \u201cIf you voted for that, it\u2019s okay to reconsider\u2026 I know from my personal interactions with Rob Reiner that he would want us to keep pointing out the loathsome atrocities that continue to ooze out of this sick and irresponsible man\u2019s mouth. And so we\u2019re going to do that, over and over again, until the rest of us wake up.\u201d He added, \u201cThis is how he behaves at Christmastime!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLater on the show, Kimmel welcomed Michelle Obama<\/a> as one of his guests. During the interview, the former First Lady shared that she and Barack Obama have known the Reiners for \u201cmany, many years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe were supposed to be seeing them that night, last night,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd we got the news. Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most recent, courageous people you ever want to know. They are not deranged or crazed. What they have always been are passionate people in a time when there\u2019s not a lot of courage going on. They were the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
