\n\tJerry Seinfeld<\/a> remembered Rob Reiner<\/a> on Monday night, crediting the filmmaker with the success of his hit comedy Seinfeld<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNext to Larry David and George Shapiro, Rob Reiner had the biggest influence on my career,\u201d Seinfeld wrote on Instagram. \u201cOur show would have never happened without him. He saw something no one else could. When nobody at the network liked the early episodes, he saved us from cancellation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cThat I was working with Carl Reiner\u2019s son, who happened to be one of the kindest people in show business, seemed unreal. I was naive at the time to how much his passion for us meant. Rob and Michele married right as our show was starting and they became an imprint for me of how it\u2019s supposed to work, each one broadening the other. Their death, together, is impossibly sad.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSeinfeld, which aired on NBC from 1989 until 1998, was produced by Reiner\u2019s company Castle Rock Entertainment. In 2016, Reiner discussed the inception<\/a> of the series in an interview with Howard Stern and remembered helping to save the show from early cancellation. <\/p>\n

\n\tHe recalled Seinfeld and David coming in to pitch Seinfeld. \u201cWe knew they were two funny guys,\u201d Reiner told Stern. \u201cThat wasn\u2019t the issue.\u201d He added that the network was uncertain what the show was going to be. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe knew we had a great show and they wanted to take it off the air,\u201d Reiner said. \u201cThey said, \u2018We can\u2019t have this show. Because what is this show? It\u2019s just people sitting around talking.\u2019 Remember, they called it the \u2018show about nothing.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReiner went into NBC and had a \u201cscreaming, crazy thing\u201d with executive Brandon Tartikoff. \u201cI begged him,\u201d Reiner said. \u201cI said, \u2018Please, I promise you there\u2019ll be stories. You can\u2019t take this show off the air. It\u2019s going to be one of the great shows you\u2019ve ever had.’\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tReiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their home in Los Angeles on Sunday. Shortly after, their son Nick Reiner\u00a0was arrested<\/a>\u00a0for allegedly killing his parents.
