If Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and the rest of The View crew are sensitive to criticism, they might want to skip the latest episode of Landman. The hit Paramount+ show, which stars Billy Bob Thornton as a tough oil company \u201cfixer,\u201d took a jab at the ABC daytime talk show in its newest episode.<\/p>\n

In a scene described by People Magazine<\/a>, Thornton\u2019s character, Tommy, tells oil executive T.I., played by Sam Elliott, to \u201cread a book or watch TV \u2014 watch one of them daytime talk shows, you know, like The View or something.\u201d When T.I. asks what that is, Tommy gives a colourful description.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It\u2019s] a bunch of pissed-off millionaires b*tching about how much they hate millionaires \u2014 and Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their ass about,\u201d Tommy explains. \u201cIt\u2019s pretty funny.\u201d He adds, \u201cWell, it ain\u2019t joke funny. It\u2019s like fart in church funny, you know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n

The remark may sound a bit harsh, but it\u2019s not entirely off the mark. The co-hosts of The View have frequently criticised former President Trump, calling him a \u201cdictator,\u201d attacking his treatment of the press, and claiming that he will use the National Guard to stop the 2028 election, just to name a few of their recent takes. Beyond Goldberg and Behar, The View hosts also include Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.<\/p>\n

Landman, which is the latest project from mega-producer Taylor Sheridan \u2014 the creator behind hits like Yellowstone and Tulsa King \u2014 has become a significant success. Thornton, meanwhile, didn\u2019t hold back on his thoughts about Hollywood\u2019s political activism during a recent appearance on Joe Rogan\u2019s podcast. He expressed his frustration with celebrities who use their award speeches to push political agendas.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t go up there and talk about saving the badgers in Wisconsin or something,\u201d Thornton said. \u201cAnd people would argue and say, \u2018Well, no, because I have a voice and because everybody knows me. This is a great platform for me to put this out there.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Thornton didn\u2019t mince words, adding, \u201cWell, how about this? If you have a billion dollars, and you want to save the badgers, f*cking save them. I mean, you got plenty of money to save the badgers, trust me.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that in mind, it seems that Landman is making waves with its blunt take on both daytime TV and celebrity politics.
