He cannot be named for legal reasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Last month, Judge Alan Mitchell learned that, following a psychiatric assessment, the man was found fit to stand trial. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The accused was initially charged with sexual assault of a female at Garter Lane in Saggart on October 20th, 2025. The girl had been missing from care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Gda Sgt Sinead Connolly further charged him at the court with the second count of sexual assault of the same complainant at another location close to Garter Lane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The judge heard that in reply to the new charge, after caution, the man told the sergeant: \u201cI spoke to my solicitor and told him she sat beside me; you can check the CCTV. She started talking to me and I asked her her age, she told me she was 18. I just kissed her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Gda Sgt Connolly said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court. However, the prosecution must serve a book of evidence before he is sent forward to the higher level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Clondalkin-based sergeant said the book of evidence was likely to be completed within six weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man had the assistance of an Arabic interpreter during the hearing after the courtroom was cleared for the proceedings to be held in private. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Dressed in a white T-shirt and grey tracksuit pants, he handed the new charge to his solicitor and addressed the court once to say \u201cokay\u201d, confirming he was not making a bail application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The judge remarked that he was impressed that the DPP\u2019s directions were available after two months, when it usually takes three months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Legal aid was granted to the accused, who has yet to indicate a plea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The judge remanded him in custody to appear again at the same court via video link on December 23rd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">At his first hearing on October 21st, Gda Sgt Connolly said the man replied, \u201cI have nothing to say,\u201d after he was charged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The defence must give garda\u00ed 48 hours notice if they intend to move a bail application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Following the alleged assault, there were violent scenes in Citywest, Dublin, resulting in more than 30 arrests, garda\u00ed suffering injuries and a Garda vehicle was burned out. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Court prosecutions have commenced while an investigation continues to identify others at the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in west Dublin in October told garda\u00ed she said&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":196695,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[59228,5721,615,61,60,43],"class_list":["post-196694","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ireland","tag-citywest-hotel","tag-district-court","tag-dublin","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/196694","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=196694"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/196694\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/196695"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=196694"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=196694"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=196694"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
