Is the eagerly anticipated trailer for Avengers: Doomsday dropping today? Marvel fans seem to think so for one huge reason.
<\/p>\n

Reports have suggested that trailers for the film will coincide with the release of James Cameron’s latest fantasy epic, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which is released in UK cinemas tomorrow. However, eagle-eyed fans believe we could get our first glimpse of the superhero blockbuster today after dissecting details in a mysterious teaser.<\/p>\n

In the brief clip<\/a>, which marks the one-year countdown until the movie’s release, before it counts down to 55 seconds, it briefly switches to spell Doomsday.<\/p>\n

Fans have pointed out that the “S” in the video looks like a “5”, deducing that it could mean 5 hours. That would have meant 1pm UK time as the teaser was released at 8am, but that doesn’t seem to have happened. It doesn’t mean a trailer won’t drop today though, given the typical Disney release time is 2pm.<\/p>\n

Others have speculated that it could mean a trailer will be released in five days, which would be Tuesday 23 December, while some believe there is no deeper meaning to the video and it’s simply a stylistic choice.<\/p>\n

“Trailer drops in 5 hours ???? \ud83d\udc40,” one user wrote on X, while another posted: “Are you guys blind? Look at the countdown!! It’s not a countdown it’s a code, a puzzle, idk but it’s not a countdown. The hours changed up and down randomly. Tell me I’m right.”<\/p>\n

A third speculated: “The Russos posted an official countdown to Avengers Doomsday. This is the same clock and ticking you will see\/hear after each teaser. Maybe they\u2019re releasing online soon \ud83d\udc40.”<\/p>\n

The Russo Brothers previously shared some cryptic posts in the run-up to this countdown, with a blurry black and white image<\/a> appearing on Instagram in preparation for… something. <\/p>\n

In October, the duo shared a first look at filming<\/a> for the sequel, but of course, all that is visible is a silhouetted character with a caption urging fans to “look hard” at the photo.<\/p>\n

The fifth installment in the Avengers franchise, following 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, will see the Avengers join forces with Wakandans, the Fantastic Four<\/a>, the X-Men, and the New Avengers<\/a> to face Doctor Doom, played by Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr<\/a>. <\/p>\n

While exact plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know a star-studded cast<\/a> will be hitting the big screen for Doomsday, including Chris Hemsworth<\/a>, Tom Hiddleston, Ian McKellen, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Florence Pugh.<\/p>\n

Other huge names attached include Vanessa Kirby, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mej\u00eda, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, and David Harbour.<\/p>\n

Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Patrick Stewart, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Robijn, James Marsden, and Channing Tatum round out the cast that we know of so far. <\/p>\n

The film’s sequel<\/a>, Avengers: Secret Wars, already has a release date: 17 December, 2027.<\/p>\n

Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on 18 December 2026.<\/p>\n
