On Tuesday,\u00a0Oh, Mary!\u00a0announced that\u00a0Simu Liu\u00a0will make his Broadway debut on February 3 in the role of Mary\u2019s Teacher, opposite John Cameron Mitchell as Mary Todd Lincoln. Liu, who broke out as superhero Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios\u2019\u00a0Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,\u00a0will not be the first MCU alum to co-star in\u00a0Cole Escola\u2019s self-proclaimed \u201cgreatest play of the generation.\u201d\u00a0Kumail\u00a0Nanjiani\u00a0\u2014\u00a0a genuine highlight of\u00a0The Eternals\u00a0as\u00a0(I swear I\u2019m not making this superhero name up) Kingo\u00a0\u00a0\u2014\u00a0played Mary\u2019s Husband opposite\u00a0Jinkx\u00a0Monsoon\u00a0earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Oh, Mary!\u00a0casting announcements are already sort of like MCU announcements for New York gays (the character of Mary is essentially their Deadpool, for what it\u2019s worth), and with the show continuing to extend its hit run, it\u2019s seems like only a matter of time until a third Marvel supe hits the Lyceum and makes this a trend. We predicted who it could be.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Alter: So now we\u2019re at two instances of MCU casting in the MTU (Mary Todd Universe).<\/p>\n

Jason P. Frank: Yes, Robert Downey Jr. must be next.<\/p>\n

Zach Schiffman: Tony Macht is the next\u00a0Iron Man.<\/p>\n

Jason:\u00a0Tom Holland as the Chaperone.<\/p>\n

Zach:\u00a0God, you know who would be so good as Mary\u2019s Teacher? Paul Rudd.<\/p>\n

Jackson McHenry:\u00a0\u00a0We aren\u2019t that far from Brie Larson Chaperone.<\/p>\n

Zach:\u00a0Florence Pugh Mary. Mary has a septum piercing.<\/p>\n

Jackson: Florence would be good, sorry.<\/p>\n

Zach:\u00a0I mean, Julia Louis-Dreyfus or Kathryn Hahn Mary, obviously. Both Marvel.<\/p>\n

Fran Hoepfner:\u00a0Aubrey would do great, too.<\/p>\n

Jason: Joe Locke.<\/p>\n

Rebecca: Gwyneth.<\/p>\n

Zach:\u00a0Gwyneth would hear the\u00a0Blythe Danner announcement<\/a>\u00a0and be like, \u201cWho is that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Fran:\u00a0Glenn Close Mary.<\/p>\n

Rebecca: Glenn Close Lincoln (in the\u00a0Albert Nobbs\u00a0getup).<\/p>\n

Jackson: An L.A.\u00a0Oh, Mary!\u00a0with the cast of\u00a0All\u2019s Fair.<\/p>\n

Zach:\u00a0I would not be surprised at all if Sarah Paulson did it. And Niecy Nash would be amazing.<\/p>\n

Jason: Kim as the Chaperone is kind of inspired.\u00a0\u201cMaryyyyyy, why did you make me put this bag of shit on my headddddd?\u201d<\/p>\n

Rebecca:\u00a0You are describing the average episode of\u00a0All\u2019s Fair.\u00a0\u201cCarr,\u00a0whyyy.\u201d<\/p>\n
