New accounts show that Breanagh Catering Ltd, the company overseeing the celebrated nightclub, had revenues of \u20ac11.7m, down from \u20ac11.78m, in the 12 months to the end of January 31. <\/p>\n
New accounts for Cathal and Paula Jackson\u2019s company record nightclub and bar sales of \u20ac10.45m, which was down marginally on the \u20ac10.46m under that heading in the prior year.<\/p>\n
The Jackson Court Hotel on Dublin\u2019s Harcourt Street houses the nightclub and Breanagh Catering recorded a further \u20ac1.24m in accommodation sales, which was down slightly on the \u20ac1.3m recorded for the 12 months to the end of January 2024.<\/p>\n
Numbers employed by the business last year increased by nine from 144 to 153 as staff costs increased from \u20ac4.57m to \u20ac5m.<\/p>\n
Pay to directors increased from \u20ac1.43m to \u20ac1.62m made up of remuneration of \u20ac622,061 and a \u20ac1m contribution into the Jacksons\u2019 pension pot. This followed a cumulative \u20ac2.15m in directors\u2019 pension contributions in the prior two years.<\/p>\n
The firm last year generated \u20ac2.6m in cash from its operations. The company last year received \u201cother operating income\u201d of \u20ac77,321 which followed \u20ac80,122 under that heading in the 12 months to the end of January 2024. The profit takes account of non-cash depreciation costs of \u20ac454,046.<\/p>\n
Operating lease charges totalled \u20ac175,592. The firm\u2019s costs were made up of cost of sales of \u20ac1.26m and administrative expenses of \u20ac8.24m.<\/p>\n
The accounts \u2013 signed off on October 23 \u2013 show the business recorded a post-tax profit of \u20ac2.19m after incurring a corporation tax charge of \u20ac330,816. <\/p>\n
Addressing the risks facing the business, the directors state that \u201cthere continues to be increased competitiveness in the hotel and licensed trade sector while the company\u2019s sales are also \u00adexposed to changes in general economic \u00adconditions in Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n
They state that the company is continuously working on managing its \u00adoverheads to reduce costs and improve profitability.<\/p>\n
At the end of last January, the company\u2019s accumulated funds totalled \u20ac17.59m. The company\u2019s cash pile increased from \u20ac8.48m to \u20ac10.88m.<\/p>\n
Mr Jackson, who celebrated his 70th birthday this year, opened Copper Face Jacks in February 1996 and put the business up for sale in March 2019 with industry sources at the time speculating it might realise \u20ac40m.<\/p>\n
