{"id":199508,"date":"2025-12-19T04:05:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T04:05:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/199508\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T04:05:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T04:05:08","slug":"pate-and-quail-eggs-recalled-in-food-safety-alerts-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/199508\/","title":{"rendered":"P\u00e2t\u00e9 and quail eggs recalled in food safety alerts \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Shoppers looking to spruce up their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/christmas\/\">Christmas<\/a> grocery list with p\u00e2t\u00e9 and quail eggs are being asked to take care after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/\">food<\/a> safety recall. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/food-safety-authority-of-ireland-fsai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/food-safety-authority-of-ireland-fsai\/\">FSAI<\/a>) has told shops to remove two varieties of a fish p\u00e2t\u00e9 from their shelves after it was found to have undeclared ingredients that could trigger allergic reactions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Batches of Le Paysan Smoked Salmon p\u00e2t\u00e9 and Le Paysan Smoked Mackerel p\u00e2t\u00e9 were distributed to retailers with labels that failed to specify that sulphur dioxide was among the ingredients. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">They also failed to emphasise that milk was one of the ingredients. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Both are common allergens that could make people who are sensitive to them sick if consumed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Eighteen batches of the 100g jars of p\u00e2t\u00e9 with use-by dates between next January and April have been recalled. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Separately, the FSAI has recalled 20-packs of quail eggs from the Quail.ie Always Fresh brand because of concerns around salmonella contamination. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The batches of concern all have best-before dates up to and including January 10th, 2026. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The FSAI advised that anyone who has bought the eggs should not eat them, while anyone who has eaten them should watch out for symptoms. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">People infected with salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection but this can range between six and 72 hours. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Diarrhoea is the most common symptom but the bacteria can also cause fever, headache and stomach cramps and can be serious enough to require hospitalisation. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Shoppers looking to spruce up their Christmas grocery list with p\u00e2t\u00e9 and quail eggs are being asked to&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":199509,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[72,13358,61,60],"class_list":["post-199508","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business","tag-business","tag-food-safety-authority-of-ireland-fsai","tag-ie","tag-ireland"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/199508","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=199508"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/199508\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/199509"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=199508"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=199508"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=199508"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
