Viewers of The Late Late Show<\/a> might be caught off guard this evening when they realise that RTE’s<\/a> legendary chat show won’t be appearing in its customary Friday night slot.<\/p>\n

The longstanding programme, which typically broadcasts at 9.35pm, will be absent from screens this week owing to its Christmas<\/a> scheduling. Presenter Patrick Kielty<\/a> mentioned the alteration during last week’s live broadcast, assuring audiences that the show will make its comeback with a special New Year’s Eve instalment.<\/p>\n

The 54 year old stated: “We will be back on New Year’s Eve with a very special countdown show. From me and from all of us here, have a great one. This has been The Late Late Show, I have been Patrick Kielty, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.”<\/p>\n

This indicates there won’t be a Late Late Show next Friday either, though fans can anticipate the festive countdown on Wednesday, December 31, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>. For those looking for alternatives to fill their disrupted Friday evening viewing, RTE One has revealed a contentious substitute for The Late Late Show.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster will be airing a repeat of the Mrs Brown’s Boys<\/a> New Year’s Special, featuring Brendan O’Carroll<\/a>. This instalment sees Agnes convert her spare room into a bed and breakfast, oblivious to the fact that a dangerous, escaped criminal is at large in Finglas.<\/p>\n

Mrs Brown’s Boys is a comedy that sharply divides audiences, whilst some viewers adore its slapstick comedy, others consider it cringeworthy. Over on RTE 2, Steven Spielberg’s thrilling ‘Jaws’ is set to air, featuring a coastal town’s police chief battling a monstrous shark terrorising tourists.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Virgin Media One will be screening ‘White House Down’, a 2013 action-packed film with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, where a visiting policeman must rescue the president after terrorists take over the White House.<\/p>\n

And for rugby fans, TG4 will be providing live coverage of the United Rugby Championship face-off between Leinster and Ulster at RDS Arena.<\/p>\n
