{"id":200683,"date":"2025-12-19T20:01:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T20:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/200683\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T20:01:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T20:01:07","slug":"koala-rides-the-bus-after-being-rescued-from-busy-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/200683\/","title":{"rendered":"Koala Rides the Bus After Being Rescued from Busy Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> NEED TO KNOW<br \/>\nA koala in Brisbane, Australia, found itself riding a city bus last weekendA Brisbane CityGlider bus driver spotted the creature dodging traffic on a busy city street before welcoming it onto his vehicleThe koala, named Peri, was checked by a veterinary clinic before he was deemed healthy and cleared for release on Sunday<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> An Australian bus driver recently welcomed an unexpected rider on his nightly route.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Dec. 14 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/koalarescuebrisbanesouth\/videos\/1596260164699468\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a> post from Koala Rescue Brisbane South Inc., the charity received a call Saturday night from a bus control support officer about a <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/golden-retriever-gives-baby-koala-a-piggyback-ride-11822542\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">koala<\/a> on a Brisbane CityGlider.<\/p>\n<p>The rescue says the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/bus-driver-saves-passengers-while-suffering-fatal-heart-attack-11728840\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hero bus driver<\/a>\u201d noticed the marsupial dodging traffic on a busy city street before \u201cit scrambled up a light post.\u201d Concerned it might fall into heavy traffic below, the driver took it upon himself to bring it to safety.<\/p>\n<p>The driver launched into action, using a light jacket to cover its head before moving it onto the bus. Inside the vehicle, the koala, named Peri, latched onto a yellow handrail and enjoyed the rest of the ride.<\/p>\n<p>After the rescue got a hold of Peri, they brought it to the local RSPCA wildlife hospital for a check-up.
