Sezhic Ltd trading as Masterson’s Centra, Dublin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim was issued two fixed payment notices for failing to display prices.<\/p>\n
The case relates to the legislation Regulation 4(1) of the European Communities (Requirements to Indicate Product Prices) Regulations 2002 (S.I. No. 639 of 2002).<\/p>\n
Following an inspection by the CCPC, a Fixed Payment Notice was issued to the trader.<\/p>\n
A fixed payment notice is an on-the-spot fine issued for a breach of price display legislation.<\/p>\n
The fine is \u20ac300 and must be paid within 28 days; failure to pay will result in prosecution.<\/p>\n
The inspection report detailed, \u201cSezhic Limited trading as Mastersons Centra Carrick on Shannon (\u2018the trader\u2019), was required to display the selling price of certain goods offered for sale.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring an inspection at the trader\u2019s premises at Mastersons Centra, Dublin Road, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, the CCPC found the trader to be in breach of this requirement by failing to provide the selling price of a product in accordance with the relevant legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Leitrim shop is among 13 enforcement actions taken by the CCPC for breaches of consumer protection law nationwide.<\/p>\n
The CCPC detects consumer protection breaches through instore and online inspections and investigations.<\/p>\n
Patrick Kenny, member of the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, said,<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this time of year, when consumers are exceptionally busy and a lot of money is being spent, it is more vital than ever that prices are clearly and correctly shown in every shop, pub and restaurant in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cCCPC officers will be out conducting inspections and where we find traders breaking the law, we will take action.<\/p>\n
