{"id":202970,"date":"2025-12-21T04:12:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T04:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/202970\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T04:12:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T04:12:13","slug":"man-to-stand-trial-over-killybegs-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/202970\/","title":{"rendered":"Man to stand trial over Killybegs murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 58-year-old man is to stand trial over the murder of another man in Killybegs.<\/p>\n<p>James Spendley of St Cummin\u2019s Hill, Killybegs, was served a book of evidence relating to the case at Ballyshannon District Court today.<\/p>\n<p>He is charged with the murder of 61-year-old Eddie Friel.<\/p>\n<p>Eddie was found dead at his home on Sunday, April 13th.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Spendley was arrested on a lesser charge relating to the death of Mr Friel in April and has remained in custody since then.<\/p>\n<p>However, those lesser charges relating to the case were withdrawn, and changed to a charge of murder in October.<\/p>\n<p>The case is expected to be heard at the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court in January.<\/p>\n<p>Man to stand trial over Killybegs murder was last modified:  December 20th, 2025 by Staff Writer<\/p>\n<p>      Tags:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 58-year-old man is to stand trial over the murder of another man in Killybegs.
