{"id":202999,"date":"2025-12-21T04:42:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T04:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/202999\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T04:42:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T04:42:20","slug":"hse-to-hold-free-walk-in-flu-vaccine-clinics-for-donegal-kids-in-bid-to-slow-virus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/202999\/","title":{"rendered":"HSE to hold free walk-in flu vaccine clinics for Donegal kids, in bid to slow virus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a bid to slow surging flu numbers, HSE West and North West will hold free walk\u00a0in clinics offering the children\u2019s nasal flu vaccine (LAIV) in Donegal over the Christmas break.<\/p>\n<p>The pop-up clinics are designed to make vaccination more accessible for families during the busy festive period.<\/p>\n<p>The LAIV (Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine) nasal spray is a quick, painless spray administered into each nostril, offering children aged 2\u201317 years effective protection against winter flu.<\/p>\n<p>The walk-in free-of-charge vaccine clinics for children aged 2-17 years are taking place in Donegal as follows:<\/p>\n<p>The Vestry Social Room, St Conal\u2019s Campus, Kilmacrennan Road, Letterkenny F92 TD92: Monday 29 December, 2025, from 9am to 2pm; and Friday 2 January, 2026, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>St Conal\u2019s Conference Room, Entrance 2, St Conal\u2019s Campus, Kilmacrennan Road, Letterkenny F92 TD92: Tuesday 30 December 2025, from 2pm to 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>The clinics are subject to vaccine supply availability, and people are advised to check the HSE website for the latest clinic updates in advance of attending.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegallive.ie\/news\/crime---court\/1969573\/teenager-arrested-in-connection-with-crash-that-killed-carndonagh-mum-and-daughter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">READ NEXT:\u00a0Teenager arrested in connection with crash that killed Carndonagh mum and daughter<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr \u00c1ine McNamara, Regional Director, Public Health West North West, said flu can be serious for children and those around them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are encouraging as many parents as possible to bring their children to these free walk-in clinics. Vaccinating your child will protect them against what can be a nasty illness in children. It will also help protect more vulnerable family members, such as grandparents and small babies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Your child may also be able to avail of their free flu vaccine at participating pharmacies and GP surgeries.
