Anna Geary was happy to be able to showcase exercise during pregnancy during this season of Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family. The TV presenter<\/a> announced during the summer that she and her husband Kevin Sexton were expecting their second child.<\/p>\n The coach was pregnant while Ireland’s Fittest Family<\/a> was being filmed, and was thankful that she could offer a fresh perspective<\/a> to the fitness programme.<\/p>\n Now she is approaching her due date, she joked that the show has prepared her for childbirth.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m glad I\u2019m not running up mountains at this point!\u201d the Cork native laughed to RSVP. \u201cI was running up quite steep hills at five months pregnant, but I\u2019m delighted that I was able to do it.<\/p>\n \u201cThis pregnancy has been healthy and it\u2019s always a fresh perspective. With Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family, often people forget that they\u2019re actually doing a lot of work and a lot of training and a lot of hard, grueling exercise because there\u2019s such enjoyment in it and there\u2019s entertainment value and team work and all the things that go along with it. So to still be able to play a part as a coach and be very active and run alongside my family in spite of being pregnant, as someone who\u2019s a big advocate of exercise I think it\u2019s very important to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cIt was great to be able to do it. Now I\u2019m in a position where instead of packing the gear bag for Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family, I\u2019m turning my attention to packing the hospital bag. I still will probably have the same nerves. I used to get very nervous, and still do, before all the Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family challenges, because there\u2019s nearly a feeling of helplessness when you\u2019re on the start line. You\u2019re there as much as possible, but you can\u2019t really do anything about it. Giving birth is kind of the same thing, you\u2019re not in control, you don\u2019t know when it\u2019s going to happen or how it\u2019s going to happen. You just have to kind of adapt and go. If anything, Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family has prepared me for childbirth in a weird way!\u201d<\/p>\n It comes as the series saw a shake up this year, with Paralympic swimmer Ellen Keane, Dublin GAA star Michael Darragh MacAuley, and Irish rugby legend Andrew Trimble joining as coaches alongside veteran stars Anna, Donncha O\u2019Callghan and Davy Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n Donncha said the shake-up was well-needed to keep the show fresh.<\/p>\n \u201cI really enjoyed it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt just felt like a freshen up was great. It was something new and something different; we had new coaches, we went to new places.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe our sports are all different, but I think there\u2019s language across all of it that crosses over. I certainly enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n Andrew added: \u201cI\u2019m doing this really fun thing, really different. Seeing parts of Ireland I\u2019ve never seen, meeting different types of people and families.
