The Irish Sporting Icon was voted as such for the NINTH year in a row. The two-weight undisputed world champion retained her crown on the Teneo Sport and Spon\u00adsor\u00adship Index (TSSI), a 1,000-strong sur\u00advey con\u00adduc\u00adted by Teneo\u2019s Sports Advis\u00adory team and iRe\u00adach Insights.<\/p>\n

Taylor topped that cat\u00adegory, receiv\u00ading 14% of the vote. As in 2024, a win in her only fight of the year, the highly anti\u00adcip\u00adated tri\u00adlogy fight against Amanda Ser\u00adrano, was enough to see the Bray boxer retain her crown.<\/p>\n

Ireland\u2019s only double Olympic gold medal winning boxer Kellie Harrington also appears on the list finishing in joint fifth on 4% of the vote.<\/p>\n

Troy Par\u00adrott debuts on the list in second place on 10% after his goalscor\u00ading hero\u00adics against Por\u00adtugal and Hun\u00adgary that kept Ire\u00adland\u2019s World Cup hopes alive.<\/p>\n

Rory McIl\u00adroy takes third place (7%) after com\u00adplet\u00ading the career Grand Slam at Augusta, fol\u00adlowed by Shane Lowry in fourth (6%) after the Clara golfer sank the putt at Beth\u00adpage to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe.<\/p>\n

Taylor also finished high on the Most Memorable Sporting Moments of the year. Her win over Serrano at Madison Square Garden finishing second behind Parrott\u2019s hat trick against Hungary. <\/p>\n

Two iconic golfing moments shared third place on 10% apiece \u2014 Rory McIlroy\u2019s putt to complete the career Grand Slam with victory at the Masters in Augusta, and Shane Lowry\u2019s emotional celebrations after rolling in a nerveless seven-footer on the 18th at Bethpage to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe.<\/p>\n

In fifth place on 6% was Kate O\u2019Connor\u2019s poignant embrace with her father and coach, Michael, after claiming silver in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

The findings come from a TSSI survey, conducted with quotas across gender, region, age and social class, examining attitudes among the Irish public towards sport and sporting heroes.
