{"id":204246,"date":"2025-12-21T23:31:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T23:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/204246\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T23:31:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T23:31:09","slug":"caring-for-kerry-campaign-issues-advice-to-people-with-chronic-illnesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/204246\/","title":{"rendered":"Caring for Kerry campaign issues advice to people with chronic illnesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiokerry.ie\/podcasts\/kerry-today\/hse-why-we-need-to-address-hospital-overstays-november-20th-2025-461039\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Caring for Kerry<\/a> message has issued advice for people living with long-term health conditions.<\/p>\n<p>People living with long-term or chronic health conditions are more vulnerable to illness in winter.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of long-term health conditions include Diabetes, Asthma, COPD and Cardiovascular Disease.<\/p>\n<p>Those with long-term health conditions are<a href=\"https:\/\/about.hse.ie\/news\/caring-for-kerry-hse-south-west-launches-a-major-new-public-information-campaign\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> advised<\/a> to get their annual flu vaccinations, and to stay up to date with other vaccination, as well as taking all prescribed medications, including inhalers.<\/p>\n<p>They are advised to wash their hands often, to avoid triggers such as dust or tobacco smoke, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>People with chronic illness are also advised to contact their GP or healthcare team when they notice worsening symptoms to get treatment to prevent them from becoming more serious.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"This week\u2019s Caring for Kerry message has issued advice for people living with long-term health conditions.
