Turns out I just didn\u2019t like team sports,&#8217; the 47-year-old broadcaster and novelist continued. &#8216;In my 30s, I discovered I liked spin classes and yoga. In my 40s, I\u2019ve fallen in love with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a706202\/strength-training-for-beginners\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a706202\/strength-training-for-beginners\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"strength training\" data-node-id=\"11.1\" class=\"body-link css-7bauu1 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">strength training<\/a>. Load and weight-bearing are hugely important, so you should continue doing strength work, sprint training and plyometrics.&#8217; <\/p>\n<p>Full-body strength <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"23\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">From lat raises to goblet squats, Elizabeth&#8217;s strength exercises reveal a well-rounded training programme that work various muscle groups, says Barber. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"25\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Sumo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/workouts\/a706790\/how-to-deadlift-properly\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/workouts\/a706790\/how-to-deadlift-properly\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"deadlifts\" data-node-id=\"25.1\" class=\"body-link css-7bauu1 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">deadlifts<\/a> target your glutes and hamstrings. &#8216;The wider stance focuses more on the quads and inner thighs (adductors) and is quite often a more accessible variation of a deadlift compared to conventional deadlifts.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"27\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Arnold presses work your shoulders (deltoids), chest, and triceps. &#8216;It works on shoulder rotation, which is often neglected, and can help keep your shoulders mobile and strong.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"29\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Focusing on posterior chain strength (the muscles on the back of your body), the hip thrusts engages your the glutes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a44372116\/hamstring-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a44372116\/hamstring-exercises\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"hamstring\" data-node-id=\"29.1\" class=\"body-link css-7bauu1 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">hamstring<\/a>, explains Barber. &#8216;That&#8217;s important for good posture, especially if you\u2019re an office worker and spend a lot of time sitting down.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"32\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Elizabeth&#8217;s message clearly struck a chord with fans.  &#8216;I&#8217;ve had the most extraordinary and heartwarming responses to my post about finding exercise that works for you,&#8217; she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DSCqUyoCK8B\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DSCqUyoCK8B\/?hl=en\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"wrote\" data-node-id=\"32.1\" class=\"body-link css-7bauu1 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">wrote<\/a> the next day. &#8216;A lot of you commented [that it] resonated.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"34\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Acknowledging that not everyone had the resources, ability or interest in exercise, however, she also reassured her followers. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"36\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">&#8216;You are good enough and strong enough doing exactly what you are. Even if it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/walking\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/walking\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"walking\" data-node-id=\"36.1\" class=\"body-link css-7bauu1 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">walking<\/a> for a little bit every day, that is so amazingly good for you. There&#8217;s no hierarchy of one thing that is better than another.
