Coronation Street is set to air more heartbreaking scenes for Kevin Webster this New Year. The character has had a tough year after his wife Abi left him following an affair with his brother Carl<\/a>. Abi and Carl are now together, though their relationship has not been smooth sailing and Carl has been getting close to James. <\/p>\n

In yesterday’s scenes, Carl received a call informing him that his mother Elaine had died<\/a> and this week Carl will reignite his affair with James<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In scenes set to air on New Year’s Eve, Kevin’s sad year comes to a painful end as he rings in the New Year by himself. <\/p>\n

With Evelyn back in Weatherfield for the festive break, she offers to mind the kids so that Fiz and Tyrone can spend New Year’s Eve in the pub. <\/p>\n

After a delighted Fiz and Tyrone take her up on the offer, Tyrone hobbles in on his crutches, having made strong progress with his recovery following his shocking hit-and-run incident earlier this year<\/a>, and everyone cheers.<\/p>\n

However, looking at all the happy faces, a downtrodden Kevin feels totally alone. <\/p>\n

“New Year’s Eve is a sad reminder for Kevin of everything he’s lost,” our Corrie source explains. “2026 should have been one of his best years yet after recovering from his cancer treatment, but he’s now lost Abi to his brother Carl and only has limited access to Alfie, who he views as his own son.<\/p>\n

“Kevin’s troubles come shortly before Debbie’s wedding, where Debbie is determined for her two brothers to put their differences aside for the day. But will Kevin be able to do this while he’s feeling so low?”<\/p>\n

Previously speaking to Digital Spy about his appearance in the special Corrie and Emmerdale crossover Corriedale, Carl actor Jonathan Howard teased some explosive scenes<\/a> as his sister Debbie prepares for her upcoming wedding to Ronnie. <\/p>\n

“I think the writing’s on the wall for Carl – I don’t know if I’m going to survive this or not,” he said. “It was really nice to be asked to be part of it [Corriedale]. As a kid, I was always hoping for it. I always wanted to see Corrie and Emmerdale together.<\/p>\n

“I manifested it 25 years ago! Manifestation works, it just takes a long time! So I’m really excited to be a part of it. Carl and Abi’s storyline is kind of coming to a climax with Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding. It’s building to something\u2026”<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
