\n\tBill Maher<\/a> revealed that he and Larry David<\/a> are no longer friends one month after the comedian called out the Curb Your Enthusiasm star for critiquing Maher\u2019s April meeting with President Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher gave an update on his friendship with David during an interview with The Free Press<\/a> posted to YouTube on Monday. Host Maya Sulkin asked Maher if anything he\u2019s said publicly has \u201ccost him invites, friends, [or] anything of that nature,\u201d to which Maher replied, \u201cFuck yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u200b\u200bI mean, Larry David certainly is not really my friend anymore,\u201d Maher continued, adding that he no longer speaks to him, and David has not reached out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI said my piece on my last show. \u2026 I put him in my last editorial right before Thanksgiving,\u201d Maher said, referring to the Nov. 21 episode of Real Time where he addressed David\u2019s satirical New York Times essay<\/a> titled \u201cMy Dinner With Adolf.\u201d The piece mocks Maher\u2019s comments<\/a> about Trump, whom he called \u201cgracious\u201d and \u201cmeasured,\u201d following their meeting at the White House earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher told Sulkin that he was \u201csurprised\u201d by David\u2019s essay, but produced a \u201cgreat clapback\u201d on Real Time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou should watch it,\u201d he told Sulkin about the segment, where he showed the headline of David\u2019s piece while addressing \u201cchildish\u201d and \u201cpurely emotional\u201d critics. Maher called out David by name during the episode.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe people who got all butt-hurt because I had dinner with [Trump]. You know, \u2019cause he\u2019s Hitler. Except he\u2019s not,\u201d Maher said on Real Time. \u201cSo unhelpful and dumb. \u2026 Every year, I used to ask Larry David to do Real Time and he\u2019d always say, \u2018Bill, I can\u2019t, I\u2019m not smart enough about politics to do your show.\u2019 Yeah, I get that now.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher continued to defend his dinner with Trump during the episode, saying that those who refuse to engage with the president are \u201cnot serious people.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat exactly is the argument?\u201d he questioned. \u201cThat by talking to Trump I\u2019ll elevate him? Oh my god, don\u2019t tell me he could become president.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn David\u2019s NYT op-ed, he wrote from the viewpoint of someone going to have dinner with Adolf Hitler in 1939.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had been a vocal critic of his on the radio from the beginning, pretty much predicting everything he was going to do on the road to dictatorship,\u201d David penned. \u201cNo one I knew encouraged me to go. \u2018He\u2019s Hitler. He\u2019s a monster.\u2019 But eventually I concluded that hate gets us nowhere.
