{"id":208082,"date":"2025-12-24T05:31:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T05:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/208082\/"},"modified":"2025-12-24T05:31:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T05:31:09","slug":"twelve-drivers-detected-speeding-in-letterkenny-area-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/208082\/","title":{"rendered":"Twelve drivers detected speeding in Letterkenny area today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit (RPU) say they have detected twelve drivers today exceeding the legal speed limit in a 100KPH zone.<\/p>\n<p>One motorists was clocked at 131Kph.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-hour National #SlowDown Day operation is being carried out by An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na, in partnership with the Road Safety Authority (RSA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey (Letterkenny RPU) detected twelve drivers exceeding the legal speed limit in a speed zone of 100KPH and the majority of the drivers they stopped explained that they were just caught up in the Christmas rush,\u201d a garda spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease remember that when you choose to drive at speed on the roads, you run the risk of not seeing another Christmas.
