During the couple\u2019s recent $200K overhaul of their 1,700 sq ft pad, which they\u2019ve owned since tying the knot in 2004, Darren\u2019s childhood friend-slash-ID refused to let them downgrade again.<\/p>\n
With Darren\u2019s mum moving in, the plan was to give her the ensuite and they take the smallest bedroom themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut he was like, \u2018Come on, bro, you work so hard, how can you stay in the last room where you don’t even have an ensuite toilet? Just let your kids sleep there, we\u2019ll make the room bigger for them,\u201d Darren recalls with a laugh.<\/p>\n
Turns out, the kids were totally fine with the swap. \u201cThey were very happy for us to have the master back,\u201d says Evelyn.<\/p>\n
And while they initially tried to carve out a room just for Kristen, it was just not possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe knew what we were concerned about, so she said, \u2018Don’t worry, these are my brothers.
