Benjamin Nygren insists Celtic will “hunt” Hearts down as the William Hill Premiership title race approaches the new year.<\/p>\n
The high-flying Jambos have beaten both Rangers and Celtic home and away this season and are six points ahead of the Hoops having played a game more.<\/p>\n
Celtic travel to Livingston on Saturday while Hearts, who last won the top flight in 1960, face Hibernian at Easter Road.<\/p>\n
Nygren was succinct when asked how he felt about the prospect of chasing the Tynecastle side.<\/p>\n
“Very excited,” he said. “We will hunt them down.”<\/p>\n
Nygren’s confidence is bolstered by the 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Parkhead last Sunday, where he scored the opener just before the break.<\/p>\n
And while Kenan Bilalovic equalised in the 74th minute, late goals from Kieran Tierney and substitute James Forrest proved decisive.<\/p>\n
It was Wilfried Nancy’s first win as Celtic boss after four defeats out of four since taking over in the Hoops hot seat.<\/p>\n
After a very difficult period when the French coach came under increasing pressure, Nygren expects Celtic to kick on after the win.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old Swedish midfielder said: “It must have been one of the games that we’ve created most chances all season. We had over 30 shots in total. I don’t know if we’ve had that before. I don’t know how many times we hit the post.<\/p>\n
“But the feeling on the pitch was very good that we really attacked them. So that’s how we want to keep on going.<\/p>\n
“It was a massive win, and I think it was a very good performance as well.<\/p>\n
“We could have scored a lot of goals and that’s what it’s all about, to play good and to create as many chances as possible because then the chance of winning is a lot higher. I think we showed that it wasn’t just a win.<\/p>\n
“I also think in some of the other games we’ve also created a lot of chances without scoring.
