Scores of homes in one small West Cork<\/a> are facing no water at the taps for the second Christmas <\/a>in a row today.<\/p>\n Uisce \u00c9ireann say they are investigating the cause of supply disruptions at Ballinascarthy village – about a 10 minute drive north of Clonakilty <\/a>– this afternoon. The outage has been causing trouble for households there and in the surrounding areas all day, and there are currently no listed repair times. It was a notable issue for a local homeowners finishing off the final bits of Christmas dinner this morning – and no doubt a pain for those looking to fix cups of tea or coffee after the big meal this afternoon.<\/p>\n Issues like these are all too familiar for Ballinascarthy residents. Homeowners in the area will also recall having no water on this day last year,<\/a> when another outage left taps running dry from Christmas morning through to late on St. Stephen’s Day. Throughout 2025, the area has also seen regular supply disruptions – both planned and unplanned – that have also impacted properties in Shannonvale and Clonakilty<\/a>.<\/p>\n West Cork TD Christopher O’Sullivan is urging all impacted to report today’s outage to Uisce \u00c9ireann. He wrote on social media: “I’m really sorry for the people of Ballinascarthy who for the second Christmas in a row are without water. I will do everything I can to get crews out as quickly as possible to restore supply. The Uisce Eireann emergency number is 1800 278278 . I would suggest people should continue to individually report the issue to that number.”<\/p>\n Elsewhere, properties supplied by the Kilmagnier Public Water Supply Scheme near Fermoy in North Cork are also reminded that they are still under a boil water notice today.<\/a><\/p>\n
