The driver of an e-scooter has died following a collision in Waterford city.<\/p>\n
The collision involving a car and an e-scooter occurred this Christmas Day, at approximately 11am.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed and emergency services were alerted to the collision at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker\u2019s Hill) and Hennessy\u2019s Road.<\/p>\n
“The driver of the e-scooter, a male in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford where he was later pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
The driver of the car, a male in his 80s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries believed to be non life-threatening,” said a Garda spokesperson.<\/p>\n
No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
“Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene and the roads remain closed. Local diversions are in place,” added the spokesperson.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.<\/p>\n
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on Manor Hill (Bunker\u2019s Hill) and Hennessy\u2019s Road between 10.45am and 11.15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
