A beautiful, festive scene by a Donegal filmmaker is to be broadcast to an audience of tens of thousands on this evening\u2019s \u2018People\u2019s Angelus\u2019 on RTE One.<\/p>\n
Pettigo woman Frances Maguire\u2019s one-minute film, Knitting Christmas by the Fire, starring her mother, Rosie McGoldrick, airs at 6.00pm, just before the main evening news.<\/p>\n
Accompanied by the Angelus bell, it features Rosie knitting by the open fire, with cameo appearances from her cats, Lily and Jessie!<\/p>\n
Frances won multiple awards around the world this year with her stunning short documentary, Echoes of an Irish Lifetime, which tells the story of her uncle, Owney McGoldrick.<\/p>\n
RT\u00c9 reached out to her after her lecturer sent them a clip of the piece featuring her mother, which she recorded last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey liked it a lot and will use it around Christmas \u2013 it\u2019s a lovely lift to get,\u201d Frances told Donegal Daily.<\/p>\n
Since 2015, the national broadcaster has invited filmmakers, artists, students and members of the public to share creative ideas for the People\u2019s Angelus, offering people of all faiths and none a moment to \u2018go placidly amidst the noise\u2019.<\/p>\n
