Arne Slot<\/a>\u2018s one Christmas \u201cwish\u201d at Liverpool is for record signing Alexander Isak<\/a> to recover \u201cas quickly as possible\u201d from injury.<\/p>\n

Isak\u2019s broken leg in last Saturday\u2019s 2-1 victory away to Tottenham<\/a> was a cruel blow, not least because he picked up the injury while scoring the opening goal.<\/p>\n

While there is hope that the 26-year-old will play again this season, it would not be until closer to the end of the campaign considering the severity of his injury.<\/p>\n

Isak fractured his fibula and required surgery to repair damage to his ankle, in a blow to the player and the club as he looked to turn a corner at Anfield. <\/p>\n

Speaking in the matchday programme<\/a> ahead of Liverpool\u2019s visit of Wolves<\/a> in the Premier League<\/a>, Slot made it clear how desperate he is for Isak to make a swift recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that we will not have Alexander Isak<\/a> with us for a period is, of course, a major disappointment,\u201d Slot reflected<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the moment that Alex was injured, he showed the movement, the finishing and the overall quality that he can bring to our team so it is a big blow to be without him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I am allowed a wish at Christmas, it would be that he recovers as well and as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the meantime, we will have to manage without him and also the other players who are unavailable for one reason or another. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been one of the stories of our season so far and we have no option but to cope and this means finding solutions and, most importantly, sticking together on and off the pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isak to return as Liverpool\u2019s Champions League-winning hero?<\/p>\n

Isak\u2019s injury layoff sums up a frustrating first season for him at Liverpool, with the Swede unable to pick up any momentum.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s now a case of getting by without him, with Hugo Ekitike<\/a>\u2018s fitness now more key than ever, and being in a good position when he returns.<\/p>\n

Liverpool will hopefully still be in the Champions League<\/a> at that point, which admittedly won\u2019t be easy.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for positive omens, Djibril Cisse broke his leg in the 2004\/05 season, before returning later in the campaign and scoring in the penalty shootout win over AC Milan<\/a> in the final.<\/p>\n

Isak will surely be dreaming of his maiden season at Liverpool ending in a similar way, with the final taking place in Budapest on May 30, 2026.<\/p>\n
