After an impossibly long wait, Midsomer Murders is returning to our screens and, after an even longer wait, so too is our favourite espionage thriller The Night Manager<\/a>. We\u2019ve also got a new instalment of The Traitors<\/a> (the regular one) to look forward to and the Stranger Things finale is finally here! Lord Sugar is inviting 12 celebrities into the boardroom for a Children in Need special. They\u2019re sent to Lapland to develop gingerbread biscuits, before creating an advert and pitching to retailers. Who will crumble under the pressure? After quite the wait, we\u2019re back in the picturesque English countryside for a new mystery. The demise of the Shirewell patriarch sparks a vicious inheritance dispute. He left three children: Lucian (Peter Serafinowicz), a prominent artist, and Francis and Ursula, who live on the estate and Lucian has big plans to evict the family, including the people who have farmed the land for 200 years. Although he\u2019s accused of killing his father, when other murders take place, DCI Barnaby and DS Winter are up to their necks in discarded girlfriends, old love affairs and family secrets. Following their previous renovation projects in Sicily, Tuscany and Andalusia – and a glorious Christmas special – Amanda Holden and Alan Carr don their boiler suits once again to work on a derelict property. Their destination this time is the Greek island of Corfu and they immediately throw themselves into local life. Arriving at 9.35pm on BBC One on Friday 2nd January. <\/p>\n

Following the huge success of the celebrity version (largely thanks to Alan Carr<\/a>!), Claudia Winkleman returns with a new run of the \u2018regular\u2019 show. The opening edition sees the host choose her three Traitors \u2013 but will they be able to keep their cool after being selected? Nine years on from the series 1 finale, The Night Manager is back! Many of its 10 million-strong audience will remember the story, which was faithfully adapted from the late John le Carre\u2019s 1993 novel. Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is the ex-solder-turned-hotelier-turned MI6 asset who\u2019s recruited by MI6 officer Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the illegal international arms operation run by the lethally charming Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). Now, with no source material, Farr has invented something afresh. Arriving at 9.05pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

After 41 episodes spread over almost a decade, one of Netflix\u2019s most popular series finally reaches its conclusion with an epic two-hour instalment. Although the show\u2019s creators, the Duffer Brothers, have been tight-lipped about what to expect, we know that a final battle is looming and the Hawkins gang is facing a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they\u2019ve faced before. Will Dustin, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, Eleven, Will and co finally defeat Vecna? Arriving at 1am on Netflix on Thursday 1st January. <\/p>\n

Ahead of his return to Line of Duty<\/a> this year, Martin Compston is guest-starring alongside Jing Lusi in ITV\u2019s high-stakes thriller. Celebrations for a newly-appointed US Ambassador to London are put on hold when a call threatening to blow a British plane out of the sky triggers an immediate lockdown inside the US Embassy. And to make matters worse, a killer wreaks havoc, plunging British cop Hana Li (Lusi) into a nightmarish scenario. She must join forces with the Head of Embassy Security Clay Brody (Compston) \u2013 but can she put her distrust of him to one side? Arriving at 9pm on ITV1 on Thursday 1st January. <\/p>\n

New Year\u2019s Day was practically made for a Harlan Coben drama. The 12th instalment of his 14-book adaptation deal with Netflix will, intriguingly, relocate the story from the US to the UK (Manchester, to be specific). James Nesbitt is Simon Greene, whose life is capsized when his drug-addicted daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange), runs away. Minnie Driver is his guilt-ridden wife, while Ruth Jones puts in an impeccable performance as investigator Elena Ravenscroft. Arriving at 8.01am on Netflix on Thursday 1st January.<\/p>\n
