Alexander Isak is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a broken leg earlier this month, but it has been claimed that he could return as early as January<\/p>\n

A former Everton CEO claims he’s heard that Alexander Isak could be back in the next four to six weeks, despite suffering a broken leg against Tottenham earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Isak sustained the injury when scoring for Liverpool<\/a> against Tottenham<\/a> prior to Christmas, as his leg got caught underneath Micky van de Ven’s sliding body.<\/p>\n

It was immediately clear that Isak had done some damage, and subsequent MRI scans confirmed Isak’s broken leg<\/a>, which was expected to keep him sidelined for several months.<\/p>\n

However, speaking on the Football Insider podcast<\/a>, ex-Everton chief Keith Wyness suggested that he’d heard Isak could return in January.<\/p>\n

Discussing the financial implications of a serious injury to a player like Isak, Wyness said: \u201cI\u2019m afraid that\u2019s part of the story of football, that your high-quality assets receive one tackle, and they\u2019re gone. Insurance won\u2019t cover much of that at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so it\u2019s something that Liverpool are going to have to make up for in some way. But they\u2019ve got depth in the squad. They can sell if they want to. And I say, I\u2019m surprised they haven\u2019t given Chiesa more of a run. I think him and Ekitike are both crowd favourites.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I think that they can find other combinations to get things going again. But definitely with Isak, I heard four or six weeks, which for a broken leg seems a little bit short, but he\u2019ll still be out of game time, and he hasn\u2019t got going this whole season because of lack of game time. And so I think it\u2019ll be very hard for him to make an impact this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his program notes ahead of Liverpool versus Wolves, Reds head coach Arne Slot wishes Isak well in his recovery from his latest setback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that we will not have Alexander Isak with us for a period is, of course, a major disappointment,\u201d Slot said. \u201cIn the moment that Alex was injured, he showed the movement, the finishing and the overall quality that he can bring to our team so it is a big blow to be without him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I am allowed a wish at Christmas, it would be that he recovers as well and as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we will have to manage without him and also the other players who are unavailable for one reason or another.<\/p>\n
