‘An infectious smile that would light up every room’: Tributes paid to jockey who died in Limerick collision<\/a><\/p>\nHe was a quiet man but when he spoke, people listened. Not one for the limelight, Jerry preferred to stay in the background but his presence – and now loss – is keenly felt.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The large attendance at his removal from Lynch-Kelly Funeral Home and funeral Mass in St Patrick\u2019s Church in Boher spoke volumes. The number of people leaving condolences on rip.ie runs to five pages.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat a great gentleman. It was always a pleasure to meet him. He had time for everyone,\u201d wrote one.<\/p>\n
Another said: \u201cWe have so many happy memories of the wonderful hospitality and warm welcome in Boher.\u201d<\/p>\n
One tribute reads: \u201cHe will be greatly missed, we loved having the craic with him about hurling, politics and just about everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n
They give a lovely sense of the man.<\/p>\n
Jerry hailed from Crehane, Cappamore, and was a member of Cappamore Show for over 50 years. He was a great promoter of the annual raffle.<\/p>\n
Jerry worked with the Irish Cooperative Society for a number of years. In 1988, following his marriage to Mary Finucane, he moved to O\u2019Neill\u2019s Bar.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The very well-liked and popular publican had many interests including his love of GAA, local politics and current affairs. He was the reference point on many occasions when conflicts of opinion arose as Jerry\u2019s knowledge resolved issues. It was \u201ccase closed\u201d when Jerry spoke.<\/p>\n
Predeceased by his brother Jim, Jerry\u2019s passing is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, his brother John, niece Bridget (Power), grandnephews Patrick and James, sisters-in-law Helen Ryan, Joan Skerritt and Margaret Nicholas, brothers-in-law James and Thomas Finucane, nephew-in-law John, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends.<\/p>\n
Jerry will be missed. His Month\u2019s Mind Mass will take place on Saturday, January 3 at 5.30pm in St Patrick\u2019s Church, Boher.<\/p>\n
May he rest in peace.<\/p>\n
