Brentford’s impressive run of form under Keith Andrews continued with a brilliant drubbing of Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Kevin Schade was the star man, bagging a hat-trick in a 4-1 win, the other goal coming courtesy of a Djorde Petrovic own-goal.<\/p>\n

This was Brentford’s second win on the bounce, after a spell which saw them fail to win their previous three.<\/p>\n

Victory left them eighth in the table overnight, with 26 points from their first 18 games. The Bees have never had this many points at this stage of the season.<\/p>\n

It’s certainly a riposte from Andrews to all those who questioned his appointment over the summer.<\/p>\n

A set-piece coach under his predecessor Thomas Frank, Andrews had never worked as a senior manager before taking the Brentford job, and his appointment was widely questioned due to his lack of experience.<\/p>\n

Though there is still a long way to go this season, Andrews has more than answered a few of those questions.<\/p>\n

However, he was adamant post-match on Saturday that he has not been motivated by silencing his critics.<\/p>\n

Keith Andrews talks down importance of ‘proving people wrong’<\/p>\n

Keith Andrews spoke to\u00a0Match of the Day after seeing his Brentford side rip into Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Irishman was asked if he took motivation and satisfaction from proving his doubters wrong, to which Andrews had a perfectly measured answer:<\/p>\n

I don’t really feel people doubting me is a reason to be motivated, it’s not the reason why I’ve got to this stage in my life.<\/p>\n

I just focus on what I can control on a day to day basis.<\/p>\n

Even if he does not necessarily take a vindictive satisfaction from Brentford’s unexpected form, Keith Andrews will no doubt be delighted with what his side have produced thus far this campaign.<\/p>\n

He was especially happy with victory on Saturday, after a few games in which Brentford were left to rue missed chances.<\/p>\n

“I thought we were really good, particularly in the first half, the way we controlled the game,” Andrews told BBC.<\/p>\n

“People talk about [Bournemouth] not being in form, but I really think they’re tricky opponents. So to control it the way we did was really impressive.<\/p>\n

“I was so glad to get into half-time at 2-0 because 1-0 wouldn’t have been a fair reflection. Overall we’re pretty pleased with the afternoon’s work.”<\/p>\n

Brentford now take a few days’ rest before facing Spurs at 8pm on New Year’s Day.<\/p>\n
