<\/p>\nChambers (16), a promising hurler with his local team Ballyea GAA, died at the scene of the accident on the R458 at Bunnahow, north of Crusheen, at 2pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He was the only occupant of the tractor.<\/p>\n
The local coroner was notified, and the boy\u2019s remains were transferred to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will be carried out.<\/p>\n
The teenager was known for his involvement in U-15 and U-16 hurling teams and his death came just hours before a Tractor Run fundraiser for the club was due to take place.<\/p>\n
The road remained closed for much of Sunday as forensic collision investigators examined the scene prior to declaring it safe to reopen.<\/p>\n
So far this year, a total of 188 people have died on Irish roads, an increase on last year, when 174 people died in road traffic collisions.<\/p>\n
On Christmas Day a man died when his e-scooter was in collision with a car in Waterford city.<\/p>\n
Tragically, 2025 saw the highest level of road deaths on Irish Roads in over a decade.<\/p>\n

A garda spokesperson has appealed for anyone who was in the area where TJ Chambers was killed at the time of the accident or who may have dashcam footage to please come forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarda\u00ed have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Clare on Saturday, 27th December 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cShortly before 2pm, Garda\u00ed and emergency services responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a tractor on the R458 at Bunnahow, County Clare (north of Crusheen). \u201cThe sole occupant of the tractor, a male in his teens (16), was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe road remains closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are currently in place.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cRoad users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R458 between Gort and Crusheen around the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone with information is asked to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigations are ongoing,\u201d a garda spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
On January 1st, 2025, 390 new safety camera zones will become operational across the country bringing the total number of safety camera zones nationwide to 1,901.<\/p>\n
The primary purpose of safety cameras is to reduce speed-related collisions, lessen injuries and save lives.<\/p>\n
Safety cameras operate in areas where there is a history of speed-related collisions known as speed enforcement zones.<\/p>\n
Assistant Commissioner Catharina Gunne, Roads Policing and Community Engagement said:<\/p>\n
“GoSafe vans operate in areas that have a speed-related collision history where fatal, serious injury and minor injury collisions occur. In addition, locations which have been highlighted by members of the community as being areas of concern, have been included in the new zones.
